1. "Tim, the Iraq invasion has played into the hands of Al Qaeda."
Way to go, Russ! Talk about straight talk!

9. The real "straight talker" Russ Feingold. Excellent appearance on MTP.
Feingold will not campaign for eiither Lieberman or Lamont in the primary, altho he made a point of saying his position on issues were closer to Ned Lamont's than Liebermans, and that he would support whoever won the Connecticut primary.

4. "What happening right now in Iraq is chaos." Feingold's response to
Hillary Clinton that things will get worse in Iraq, if we leave.

My guess is that things will not get worse. We are on the defensive in many places in the world right now, like Aghanistan because of being bogged down in Iraq. We do not have our eye on the ball.

Our ability to succeed in Afghanistan has been hampered by our decision to go into Iraq.

5. "The Democratic party of this country is the people."
The Senate is out of touch with the American people.

12. I loved that statement flpoljunkie
Russert tried very hard to get Russ to put out a soundbite that would be damaging and failed. He also made it sound like people in NH were now questioning Feingold about his vote for Roberts, when in fact it was last Oct. and no one recently has asked about it. Russert is such an ass, but I watched it for Russ. He was fantastic.

Mr. Potato head is now obsessing about Hillary again--as usual.

11. I watched Russ on MTP
Its on a 9:00 here and he was terrific. I even think that Timmeh was more respectful than he usually is with the Democrats on his show. He tried to trick him up, but wasn't successful. Now Timmeh has his roundtable on. Broder, Brownstein, etc. Wonder how they will trash Dems.

14. Ron Brownstein of the LATimes made some interesting points.
-The Democrats lurched toward a consensus position this week in that most voted for the Levin amendment and what this said was that the Democrats were united in their belief that we need to change course in Iraq. "Stay the course" vs. "Change the course."

-That Joe Lieberman had "gone out of his way to provoke the Democratic base, seeming to revel in sticking it to the base and that he had moved himself (to the right).

17. I thought the round-table this time was actually pretty good
no spew from a bunch of right-wingers. They were well-reasoned and interesting.
Of course I'm sure some DUers will post how they are evil Republican shills because they didn't call Bush a fascist, but all in all I thought it was a thoughtful panel and a good conversation for our side.

16. It comes on at 11 AM here in West Virginia
Different times in the same time zone. I guess it's on later so that there will be plenty of room for TeeVee evangelists handling snakes and healing people.

10. He was very good
Practical in his approach, clear in his beliefs.
And... he will support the Democratic nominee in Connecticut no matter who it is ( won't campaign in the primary) Still supports his Roberts vote as the best we could hope for from Bush.

18. he did a great job.
I especially liked the part when Timmyboy quoted D*Cheney who talked about the democratic plan as a disaster and Feingold responded that Bush and Cheney already committed the worst disaster in history.

19. Feingold called for censure based on wiretapping.
I don't see how the Senate can credibly censure the President for wiretapping when Bush nominated, and they overwhelmlingy confirmed Gen Hayden to run the CIA. He is the very architect of the program.

That confirmation process really hurt because that was an opportunity to speak loudly and clearly about the NSA program by rejecting Hayden as CIA chief.

21. All that matters is that someone is calling for censure & investigation...
Screw "credibly" - they'll never do it, period, as long as the Cons control the Senate. Feingold knows that perfectly well, but he's not shutting up about it. Because we win by just talking about it.
