Charles Rangel exposed the Repub plan on the house floor.
He gave a very elegant, passionate speech about the Repub's plans to break the budget in order to eliminate all social programs that FDR enacted. Asked why, at a time of war and 9 trillion dollars debt are we borrowing money from communist China in order to reward 7500 families. Pointed out that this is a conscious breaking of the US budget.

Brilliant, but it will be difficult to put into sound bites, so will probably get little exposure.

Steny Hoyer now pointing out the bill will be almost 800 billion, which our children will have to pay. No courage or responsibility. Like Rangel, he received applause.

2. I hope they will keep hammering on the immorality of it.
The estate tax repeal, that is. All of the Dems are actually inspiring.

4. Every point the Dems are bring up is right on target but the repugs
don't care. The repugs are still spewing lies about the "poor family farms" are going under due to the death tax.

Just once I wish a Dem would stand up and call every single one of the Repugs a liar. If Dead Eye can tell a Senator to "Go f*ck yourself." then the polite discourse is already gone so call them exactly what they are - LIARS. And when they start dragging out the "poor nursery owners" that can't pay the dead tax due to their parents death I want a Dem to ask for names and numbers so they can verify the BS the epugs are throwing.

This is a done deal, the repugs' owners are demanding a return on their payoffs and today is gonna be the day.

8. Well, pray they don't Sen. Lincoln speak...she's voting for repeal.
Asked her office why she didn't work for reform, with a rising exemption across the years. Was told that there were too many Arkansas farms that were destroyed by the estate tax. Asked for the numbers or the names of anyone who had lost a farm to it and didn't get an answer.

Like most of Arkansas farms are so rocky that all they can do is rent out space to Tyson's for chicken houses.

3. If they get their way
and all social programs are eliminated what will be left for the working poor?

There will be no choice but to take to the streets and really begin a class warfare.
Martial law will be called for by both parties and we will remain in police state indefinitely. Millions will die without food or health care or will be incarcerated. We will end up making the nazi's blush.

5. Republicans Are" Breaking the Backs of Americans"
How hard is that to understand as a sound byte?

Then you site the examples:

The War in Iraq

The senseless sacrifice of the lives of US soldiers
fighting an Illegal War.

America is already Bankrupt (borrowing $$ from a Commie Country)

Cutting Taxes of the Rich-

Cutting necessary Social programs for the Young and Elderly

How much of this do you think Americans will have trouble understanding?

9. Yes, the issues can be listed.
My point was that it is difficult to find a well-reasoned and complete argument about any subject on the the cable news shows. They don't allow the time necessary to present a full argument for any policy position, which would be much more effective in convincing the people than the short clips they show.

I wasn't underestimating the American public, most of whom I'm convinced would agree with the Dem position if given all of the facts in the logical and ordered way that the Dems are presenting them today.

11. You are right. But, it couldn't have happened without the cooperation
of millions of pathologically stupid Americans who are unable to realize what they are doing.

6. Well done.
And in contrast to the HR Republican from Texas on Washington Journal this A.M. who blamed the overspending by Congress on the Democrats, claiming that they are responsible for the pork earmarks and that the deficit is due to Democrats' tax and spend proclivities. A caller asked how he could have the nerve to claim the Republicans were doing a great job in light of the fact that Clinton balanced the budget and created a surplus and the Republicans have created a massive deficit. His response was, "Well, if you want twice the taxes ..."

The Republicans have nothing. Zip, nada, goose-egg. They are banking on the hope that America is functionally retarded and will believe every lie they tee up.

Charlie is doing America a solid by speaking up, eloquently I might add.

17. mind-boggling, huh?!
Loved his helmet-head hairdo, so very Delay-esque. Following right in his shoes too with the same rhetoric. Blah, blah, blah.

They are counting on Americans being stoooopud, but I'm very hopeful that their lying is losing its effectiveness with anyone other than their brain-washed followers.

That's the beauty of their being in complete control of government - they are ENTIRELY to blame. Good luck getting around that factoid.

7. I think it is extremely mean-spirited to eliminate what's left of the
FDR social safety net for the poorest of the poor in this country while allowing unprecedented tax cuts for the rich in a "time of war", record-high prices for asoline and heating fuel, passage of the bankruptcy bill, elimination of the estate tax, no universal healthcare, and a deficeit in the trillions from an elective occupation, and defeat of even an incremental raise in the minimum wage.

As the world's "#1 Superpower", and an industrialized nation with a supposed healthy economy, this administration should be ashamed to be going this route. And our elected Democrats should be ashamed for not making a bigger stink about this constantly.

12. Steny is kicking ass!
if this $800 billion isn't really needed to fund federal spending..why have Republicans deployed our forces in Iraq if they have no intention of paying for this? but Granny Price from Georgia doesn't care about parliamentary procedere..just backroom obedience. That poor thing..just looks sooo distressed!

Why are we letting these trust fund babies, thieving criminals, pork-bellied ne'er-do-wells, and psychotic scum get away with destroying the country.

16. FDR created the safety net to avoid revolution
If you recall, in the 30's Germany and Italy had just gone fascist and the Russian Revolution was just a little over a decade prior to that.
When the working people of America are finally left with nothing but misery because of the actions of the RW, then revolution will suddenly become feasible again. It could be peaceful like in Czechoslovakia or it could be bloody like Romania. Time will tell how it will turn out. If we continue on this present path, it will be inevitable.
America, present company excepted, has become lazy and complacent. More people vote for American Idol than in real elections. It's only when you lose everything that anything becomes possible.

19. It is the very conscious "Starve the Beast" program
If they privatize and sell off the pieces of America while running expensive programs that they profit from (like war) there will be no money left for things like Social Security, Medicaid, healthcare, etc. That's because they view the US economy as a gigantic cookie jar and the contents are supposed to be parcelled out to just a very few, "connected" members.

Why do very rich familes get involved in politics? Do you think it is because of their sense of altruism or social service? How come people enter politics as people of humble means and lo and behold just a very few years later they (or their family members ) are also wealthy? And then they get wealthier. And then when they are out of office they join a lobbying firm to earn a gazillion dollars to influence and entice other members of Congress to travel the same yellow brick road of wealth and influence peddling that they followed. "Everyone does it." While they bankrupt the country so that they get a seat in the very exclusive "I Got Mine Club"

bites. The Democrats are practically invisible to the Corporate Media.
