"Doonesbury" prototype miffed at Lamont campaign
Charlie Pillsbury (yes, THAT Pillsbury), Yale roommate of Garry Trudeau and prototype for "Doonesbury", is pretty ticked with Ned Lamont's campaign. PIllsbury is the Green Party Treasurer. See story here http://newhavenadvocate.com/gbase/News/content?oid=oid:159331. Seems he faults the Lamont campaign for "stealing" the Green Party's ideas.

Charlie is a good guy and he runs a great mediation agency here in New Haven. He ran as a Green Party candidate against U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D) a few years ago and lost. He's got good friends among liberals. But he comes across in this story as a bit of a crybaby.

1. Wow, that is dumb
If he cared about his ideas for the right reason he would be happy that they made it into a major race even though he never will.

2. I thought the point of the Greens spoiling Dem campaigns
was to try to bring the Dems more to the left. Apparently it worked on someone and now he complains?

3. If the shoe fits...
he should be delighted to see his ideology being advanced, IMO. Who is accomplishing that movement is entirely secondary as long as the agenda is a step closer to becoming reality, the complaining is revealing of primacy of ego over concern for those who would actually benefit from said agenda.

5. Oh, I agree! This is just sad and it's all about ego
as if nobody can carry the banner better than the Greens.

Well, at least we won't be hearing from Charlie about Ned's money backing the campaign...

6. Doesn't he Read books?

The whole purpose of the Third party in American politics is to have your issues adopted by one of the two establishment parties. Most of the current Democratic party stances are taken from the Populist party after the 1912 election. In response, starting in 1915 the Republicans started taking issues from the new Ku Klux Klan.

7. Excellent point!
As I said before, I think the Green Party has begun to think of itself as the Only True Belief. As such, they are not to be questioned in their unsullied quest for office. And as such they never succeed. Because people can't stand them, that's why! They are insufferable!
