* is comparing himself
and Tony Blair to Roosevelt and Churchill.

NOOO!

Churchill and Roosevelt are spinning in their graves. Fundamentalist conservative comparing himself to these great liberal minds that helped create the UN and stood up for the freedoms of all individuals.

Now he wants labor unions in the Middle East. How many more liberal ideas will he co opt to win the election?

1. Well, he got the era right, but the more accurate comparison would be...
Chimpy as Hitler and Poodle boy as Neville Chamberlin.

4. Watching him right now...
I don't see how he can even stand on a stage with any of our guys. Each one of them makes him pale in comparison.

5. I think * resembles Mussolini more than Hitler
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 02:54 PM by manco
Hitler is a strong comparison because of the Holocaust.

8. Mussolini once said
"Fascism should be called corporatism" as it is the bundling of the corporate view. & I think Mussolini would know.

Now we define it as:

government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.

Yes, Toto, we are not in America anymore.

7. Churchill was a great war leader, but he was not a liberal mind.
He almost single handedly lead Roosevelt and Stalin into the Cold War. His party was always the conservative party.

12. Churchill was a member of the Liberal Party
when he first entered politics. His viewpoints (to my knowledge)were always consistent with the word liberal - open minded, without prejudice, and belief in mankind.

11. Actually
I believe Churchill was of the Conservative Party, not a liberal, except in the noblesse oblige sense of the word.

In 44 or 45 the labor party won parliament back from the conservatives. However, during the war GB didnot hold elections and created a unity party (so i may be mistaken about churchill, but it was a Tory-dominated coalition)

15. I can see some comparison to Roosevelt - here
Bush policies have already brought the country into war. In my mind, they are certainly leaning toward causing another depression. So, there ya go - he, like Roosevelt (provided he is reelected) will get to lead the country during and time of war and depression.

Fortunatley, Roosevelt successfully led the country through very trying times. Bush will ensure its disaster.

16. * has been at the presidency during a time of war
and I have been depressed the entire time - so, lets say your analysis is complete and skip the depression and 4 more years of *.

Besides, saying Bush has lead us - more like he coerced us every step of the way.
