A Father`s Day message for President Bush.
President Bush,

It`s a lovely morning here in Vermont. Birds singing, corn growing. I bet lots of little children show up at the breakfast table with handmade cards behind their backs. Some won`t because their Dads aren`t with them this year. They`re stationed in Iraq or they`re quiet residents of a local cemetary, buried with American flags fluttering above their heads or with their little boy`s favorite Tonka truck parked at the base of the headstone.

What are you doing today? Little R&R at Camp David? Bike ride? Round of golf? Maybe you`ll just kick back, remote in hand and celebrate the uptick in the polls. Yeah, that`s the ticket. Put your feet up and enjoy. Will you have gifts to unwrap? Something in bronze or Italian leather? Is your personal chef there with you? Will it be special-ordered brook trout? Just think...a bit of good fortune, a few helpful friends and there you are, alive and well on Father`s Day, not a scratch on you, no haunting combat nightmares, no missing legs, no future altered by months of physical therapy. You must thank your lucky stars you ended up being a Decider instead of a Doer.

If we gathered up a Father`s Day line of Doers (those Americans and Iraqis dead, half dead, maimed or otherwise altered) how long a line would it be? Outstretched fingertip to outstretched fingertip, say 150 miles? I`m no math whiz, but I think I could go from central Vermont clear into Maine before I`d see the end of that line. That`s a lot of altered Father`s Days.

After you celebrate this special day you`re alive to enjoy, I hope you`ll rethink this whole pre-emptive strike policy. It killed a lot of fathers and would-be fathers. I know you say God approved your war plan, but I`m not certain He abides this resulting sea of red.

1. You are being much too nice and you're overlooking one thing..........
...that WH squatting m..... f..... don't give a crap about anyone other than his own ass:nuke: and maybe:nuke: Rove's ass:nuke: So appealing to his sense of right and wrong won't help, the only thing that would help is something I can't suggest here.

Oh yea, these days he don't even care about his own wife:shrug: - it's Condi in the spotlight now.

2. I could also add to the list
those who are forgotten in our society. They all have fathers or are fathers. But circumstances and our society's tendency to overlook and ignore those at the margins.

Mr. Bush, they could have had a better life. They could be complete. But you've sold any hope they might have had to China and Saudi Arabia simply so you and yours could have more.

Put these on, Mr. Bush .....

..... and lets go for a walk downtown ..... no one will be expecting you, so even a silly disguise will work just fine.

3. Of course Bush ignores "those at the margins."
Any president who would rather have a guitar lesson than help rescue people drowning in their attics is a champ at ignoring those at the margins.
