DNC Chairman Howard Dean Applauds Court Decision on New Hampshire
Phone-Jamming Scandal

Washington, DC - Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean
issued the following statement on today's ruling in the New Hampshire
Republican phone jamming scheme civil case:

"We applaud Judge Mangone's decision today to block Republican efforts
to stonewall on the criminal campaign to disenfranchise New Hampshire
voters by Republican operatives. Now, lawyers for the DNC and the New
Hampshire Democratic Party will finally be able to depose Republicans
who are key to finding out who knew what and when they knew it
concerning this criminal scheme.

"Those who worked in the White House and the Republican National
Committee can no longer remain silent about their possible role in this
illegal conspiracy to undermine Democracy. Democrats will continue to
fight for answers in this case and to protect the fundamental right of
every American to vote."

2. Recommended - this is good news, don't know why more people don't
seem concerned about it.

Once a few facts start coming out, the road to Karl Rove in The White House could be a short one.

He squeaked by on Plame (so far), maybe he won't be so lucky again...

6. Actually, it's not Howard.

Better to say, go get 'em, Kathy (Chairwoman of the NH Dems.) The NH Dems are fronting this effort versus the RNC. It's David vs. Goliath.

At least the DNC is finally kicking in some legal help, it seems.

8. Dean spoke of this on the Majority Report in May with Sam Seder.
"SAM SEDER: Now I got to ask you ...a couple of stories of the Republicans..I never cease to be amazed. This latest story, the New Hampshire phone jamming case, tell us a little about that. It has been going on for a couple of years, but they just started sending people to jail for this.

DEAN: And there may be a lot more that go. I think my counterpart, Ken Mehlman will end up in court over this...testifying at least. What happened was that the Republicans jammed the GOTV efforts on the phone. Tied it up, they broke the law. Couple of people have gone to jail. The RNC has paid all their legal bills which makes one think this was not just someone just acting on their own. And as often happens in these scandals, the net is getting wider and wider and wider.

Turns out there were many many many phone calls made to the White House political office on the day this stuff was going on and right before it. And the question is who did they talk to in the White House? And nobody will say of course...so it does remind a little bit of Watergate."

9. If you survive summary judgment, then you win
The Democrats can now take the depos of all of the whitehouse aides who helped planned this attack. This is going to be fun.

10. Looks like a voting rights meeting next week....
http://www.democrats.org/a/2006/06/we_need_a_paper.php

"The Democratic National Committee's Voting Rights Institute will be holding a private conference in Washington, DC next week with voting rights experts and lawyers from the states. We will provide a recap of the conference and of DNC Chair Howard Dean's remarks. For more information, check out Tracy's post from the last voting rights conference."
