Al Sharpton a real preacher? Good candidate?
I guess where I'm headed, is to question if a preacher/minister would make a good President? (RW preachers scare me a bit more I guess) Duh! Why haven't we convinced a better qualified African-American candidate to run? Many are out there and I don't mean to attack Sharpton. I think he's one of our better speakers for sure. (Can't wait for him at the convention!) However, how religious is he? Is this a fair question?

Any thoughts?

In answer to another thread, I'm glad he is in the debates and speaking his mind. I hope he continues to do so.

1. #1 black leader in America

The #1 black leader in America is Oprah.

I hope she runs for Senate some day.

3. He's a real preacher. He's been ordained since childhood (!)
But, in the tradition of many Black ministers, he's in no way treacly or sanctimonious in the way so many evangelical television preachers are.

When asked about his support for LGB marriage, his response was perhaps typical: 'Of course I support it. If you want, let's step outside and I'll do you {two} right now!' (that's a close paraphrase)
