2500 dead troop info... halted.
been five days we have been stuck at 2497 dead in Iraq. With the average of 2 dead a day, it would seem the pentagon is holding off the milestone numbers reporting.

maybe save it for a friday...?

4. I have noticed that as well.
It hasn't changed since zarqawi was taken out. It's all better now - see no more troops killed.

I think they are saving it for a Friday dump.

5. Don't want to harsh Chimpy's Baghdad buzz, do you?
Think how distressing it would be for Stupidhead to have to answer a bunch of questions about 2,500 dead troops. Instead, by suddenly stopping the reports of folks dying, Chimpy can answer questions from an adoring press about what his favorite color is, or how much he likes ice cream.

Sure, you say, it's distressing for the families of the dead, but their grief will be with them the rest of their lives. They can wait a few days to get started on it, dontcha think? What's important right now is that Bush doesn't have to answer a bunch of questions about some arbitrary milestone number of military dead.

6. More people die in car wrecks and besides they are volunteers
Get with the program. "Support" the troops like flag waving "conservatives" do. Hell, those kids would die someday anyway. Dontcha get "conservative" logic?

21. Damn right, BossHog. More people die in autos each month than died in 9/11
That's why our government has declared war on this form of transportation that is robbing so many of their lives.

Uh, wait a second. Those lives aren't that important because there is no political gain and only corporate harm could come from pursuing such a citizen-friendly course of action.

But over 5,800 people die each month because of air pollution. That's why our government has declared war....

Did Bush mean to say "Make the pyre higher"?

11. I check it every day in my paper and noticed that on Tuesday, it said
2499, according to the AP, and then today, it said 2497. Sounds like someone is either playing with numbers or else there's been a gigantic scientific breakthrough that the Bush administration is not interested in releasing.

20. All those unfortunate souls killed, but no soldiers?
Yeah, that's believable.

Though I do fervently wish that the toll was permanently stuck on 2497 and that we wouldn't lose anymore people (on all sides) in this horrible war.. :(

16. US death toll in Iraq nears 2500
THE US military death toll in Iraq neared 2,500 today, moving like a shadow behind President George W Bush's efforts to gain momentum from a burst of good news from the war-torn country.

The Pentagon put the death toll as of today at 2,499 US service members, of whom 1,971 were killed in action.

"Each and every loss is felt hard by our nation, by the units from which those individuals come, and certainly mostly by their families," said Brigadier General Carter Ham, deputy director of the Joint Staff for regional operations.

"Rather than focus on an aggregate number I think it is more important for us to remember that there are individuals in that aggregate number, and those individuals are those to whom we should feel very, very grateful."

18. Who
Edited on Thu Jun-15-06 01:58 PM by DocSavage
do you suggest take one for the team and make it 2500? I am sure that people have friends that are over there that would be willing to make the sacrifice so some here could have a political statement to make. Whose parents on your street are you willing to hurt. How about Lynns husband, he is in the Army, is she willing to take one for the team?

To post here hoping that more members of the military will be killed so you have a political point is just plain wrong. How come you were not all hopping that more people died in New Orleans so you could ridicule Bush on that? There is no difference you know.

Threads like these are going to be the downfall of the "progressive" movement, because to many this is just a blatant throwing away of American lives to fit your political agenda.

And before the mods I am sure delete this post and ban me for I really do not know what, other than "offending" other posters on this thread, I hope that the family of the 2500th american serviceman gets a copy of this thread so their family can respond to your blood lust.

22. I wasn't picking up "blood lust" from this thread, more like
skepticism\anger that accurate reporting of U.S. KIA\WIA is being subordinated to political purposes by BFEE.

Here was Tony Snow's take on the 2500 number:
