Wait and see while people die in Iraq! Wait and see! Wait and see!

Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE): "I don't think you should confuse an event with a strategy. ... I think time's going to tell whether or not this represents a new strategy or merely a reliance upon a government that has now 250,000 people in uniform, but still totally incapable of providing for their own security at this point" ("NewsHour," PBS, 6/13).

Asked if it was a publicity stunt, Biden: "If, come September, things are just as bad as they are now, then, it wasn't much more than that" ("Situation Room," CNN, 6/13).

It was a stunt! If the Iraqis aren't properly trained, then Bush is lying. If they aren't trained, what the hell is Biden waiting for. If it takes nine weeks to stand up an young American for duty in Iraq, then nine weeks of on the job training should be plenty for the Iraqis. Set a damn deadline and get out. Bush is not going to do a damn thing!

1. Your absolutely right!! Why the delays? Why the him-ming and hauling?
It's been proven that we are part of the problem and are causing some of the violence. Why is it necessary for American forces to patrol the streets and take the brunt of the road side bombs? Why must our soldiers be the ones to raid homes? Iraq's should be trained well enough to do both of these things. Similar to what Kerry said, this war will not be won at this point at the end of a gun.
The excuse that if we pull out the insurgency will increase and the government might collapses is all speculation. Look what is happening while we are there- violence, increase in the insurgency, increase in terror cells and recruitment throughout the Middle East, a hatred and distrust of American forces in Iraq and increased sectarian violence. And, no real indication that the Iraq's are willing to fight to keep their democracy. You have to question who really wants this democracy more, them or us.

Oh, and where did Biden come up with the September time frame? What dark hole did he pull that out of?

2. You're right!
Why September? Is he suggesting that if Bush acts now, visible progress can be made by September? Then why not set the process in motion and speed up withdrawal?
