O.K. Ken Melman on the Daily Show: "We've trained 250,000 Iraqi Troops..."
I think it's time to ask again, of those supposed "trained" Iraqi Troops, how many of those "trained" troops are now DEAD?

Because when they say we've "trained" them, what exactly does that mean with these lie about everything "people?"

Are they counting all the Iraqi Army troops that have been killed over the last 3 years?

Are they counting the Troops that still have little or no equipment?

Are they counting those troops that still aren't ready to "take the lead?"

What's the true story now? Because if Ken Melman is saying it, you know it's a lie.

1. Actually, they're all the wrong questions.

See, the problem is that the troops were trained and then distributed throughout the ministries for defending them with no central command and no systematic oversight. So, these troops are subject to political manipulation, use as death squads, and so on, with zero accountability (or as near to zero as it's ever gonna get). So the US-trained troops have become US-trained militia under the control of various government ministries.

Edit: Which, if anything, is an even worse result than you were contemplating.

6. Some of those so called "trained Iraqi troops"...
Have been responsible for some of the most brutal killings in the Sunni community.

Seems like we trained them well, then they used that training for revenge. Of course all this really did was help the insurgents with their recruiting.

16. Last time I checked, the desertion rate was about 60%
It's probably higher now.

2. Troops? They're training the fucking insurgency!
I recall a story a month or so back where they trained several thousand troops, then on the day they graduated from training were told they would be shipped out of their communities. They threw down their uniforms but kept the weapons

3. If there are 250,000 Iraqi troops, then what the heck are WE needed for?
That is the real question.

Then there is the huge number of Iraqis who sign up for the pay then quit after the training is over or when they are told to go out and shoot other Iraqis.

7. This is so sad for the Iraqis
Hussein could control them. We just enable their sectarian tendencies. They didn't ask for this but W brought it on.

8. hmmm..rather like body counts (Vietnam) in reverse..
..the military heirarchy in Vietnam gauged success on body counts -- the number of Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army killed.....they were routinely falsefied on a ridiculous scale....at one point it was calculated that if the body counts had been accurate, every NVA and VC would have been dead....yet the war dragged on.

10. Where's the Tank Corps?
Are they flying MiGs or F-15 Eagles?
Is there an Iraqi Navy?
Can they have an modern Artillery?

I think Iraq is only "allowed" to employ a very well armed police force to control their own people. They'll never be allowed to defend themselves from their neighbors.

That's our job.

13. Those are good questions, I have one -Who *ARE* these slobs?
I have been meaning to post this. Having been in the Army I have seen this work, it seemed dumb at the time but it does work.

Everytime I see the crackerjack Iraqi units they parade before the cameras all I can think is -TUCK IN YOUR SHIRT STAND UP STRAIGHT- Sorry to sound like Neidemeyer but for God's sake that uniform and group punishment and endless marching actually works. Aren't we trying that?

15. Probably just glad they don't steal their rifle and go home
In fact we give them wooden sticks to train with until they're found to be committed.
I don't think their hearts are in it because they know their job will be to kill their own countrymen to force compliance with the "coalition".

That would explain the masks.
