Washington Gears Up for Caucus and John Kerry...
http://blog.johnkerry.com/blog/archives/001125.html

Seattle is bustling with activity in preparation for Washington State caucuses, which will be held on February 7th. However, before the caucus we will be treated to a Primary Election Night Party with John Kerry tonight!

Washington has eliminated its primary this year, so the caucus is especially important. We have been working hard to get out the vote, and Washington is very excited about Kerry! We have Kerry field reps all over the state and they are working hard to keep up with the demand as phones are ringing, people are coming to the headquarters and emailing for information, buttons and signs or to be put to work as volunteers.

Seattle for Kerry was out canvassing over the weekend. I know I had a lot of fun doing it and hardly noticed the rain. Sunday morning, a diverse group from several districts showed up at the Seattle Kerry headquarters in Pioneer Square for Caucus training. The enthusiasm was palpable and all got to meet the new Kerry staff that has come from Iowa to join those already in place. We were able to meet others from our own precincts and organize for the job to be done over the next week.

Then many of us took to the phones to contact the many dedicated Democrats in the area, even though the Super Bowl was starting soon, and Pioneer Square was brewing up a party with the bars already open. The voters on the list that I took had all indicated their intent to caucus for Kerry, and only needed to know where their precincts were. There has been a great response from a diversity of voters for John Kerry.

As we were winding up, we got a visit from Congressman Adam Smith. John Kerry has gotten some impressive endorsements lately, including Congressman Norm Dicks and Governor Gary Locke. Congressman Adam Smith has supported John Kerry months before he formally announced his candidacy. He is shown here with his little Kerry supporter children, and on the left is Ali Wade, the Washington State Kerry campaign director.

Now we have a countdown… we are phoning and canvassing when we can, talking to friends and neighbors and then partying after the primaries tonight with the candidate! John Kerry is going to have a warm reception from the Puget Sound and Washington state! We are going to send America a President!
