Is there one Democrat who would introduce a Coulter censure resolution?
Edited on Sat Jun-10-06 02:22 PM by Joe Bacon
Please, is there one Democratic Senator and Congressperson who would introduce a resolution to censure Ann Coulter?

Is there ANYONE who would force the Republicans to go on record supporting her?

Anyone?

2. Hey, this is America--she has a right to be a vile, hideous ass
She holds no public federal office, thus, she isn't subject to the censure of the House or Senate.

The more you talk about her, the more publicity you give her. The best thing to do when you see her on your screen is to vote--with your remote.

I agree.

You ignore bullies. mAnn is exactly that. We should just fail to acknowledge her presence. That'd piss her off more than any slam-dunk insult.

3. I don't think you can censure someone not in the gov't
You can probably put up a resolution condemning her though.

4. The idea is to get Republicans on the record to support/oppose her

Pin them down so we can tie them to her.

7. They are doing that, for their own benefit
see my post below for an example of neonut Santorum doing just that.

Her mouth coupled with their saying she doesn't speak for them is just a campaign tactic to make them appear like they are not the far right nut case hate mongers they have been all along. She is the straw man for their attempt to look moderate.

5. Censure Coulter?
Anyone can introduce such a resolution, but the majority party determines what is voted on.

Such a resolution will be voted on when the repukes determine it is in their best interest to have it voted on.

6. She is just the straw man along side whom, GOP candidates try to look
moderate. She is the target/poster girl for how much too far the GOP/Neocons have gone so they can go on the record as saying she goes too far and try to appear like they are moderates.

Santorum just did that stunt

MICHAEL SMERCONISH: With regard to a certain group of 9/11 widows Ann Coulter in her new book says, ‘I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ deaths so much.’ I’m appalled by that. Are you appalled by that?

SEN. SANTORUM: Probably more then you are. I mean this is ridiculous. I mean Ann is what? Ann is someone who is out there trying to sell books and, you know appeal to a certain audience and I guess she’s doing it.

And there is audio

the villains that actually have power.

8. That would be a very stupid move,
would only give her more legitimacy than she deserves.

9. She's not a government
employee. Do they censure private citizens? Wouldn't that be a judicial function, anyway? a civil suit, or something?

10. Censure a private citizen because -
- she exercised her right to Freedom of Speech??? Because . . . we don't like her opinion?

Uh, NO.

11. I don't think they can censure her, but they can keep her front and
center. She puts a face on the Republican party and it's not a nice one. Anyone with a morsel of heart is repulsed by her and the hatred that seeps out her pores. The fact few Republicans have spoken out in any way against her speaks volumes.

13. There's a Republican double standard.
When this guy calls for Americans to be killed:

They call him a terrorist & drop bombs on him.

When THIS guy calls for Americans to be killed:

They give him million dollar book deals & put him on teevee.

They should be forced to wear the lovely Miss Coulter hanging around their not so lovely necks.

However, could pass a resoluton congratulating Ann Coulter on being one of the most vile humans to ever walk the earth.

19. It wouldn't be "supporting her"
It would be "supporting her right to speak" or something like that. I'm not a fan of the idea, personally, for similar reasons. Coulter is useful, in so far as she demonstrates the viciousness of the right-wing. She's just saying in public what they're saying in private.

22. Coulter's meanness is good for democrats now.
IMO, Coulter has begun to wear thin for many people. Watching her on TV is an interesting study of someone who is intelligent, articulate, and also a self-promoting, hatefilled, psychopath totally lacking in compassion and integrity. She will turn many of the moderate middle 15% of voters away from the conservative causes and candidates. As people become more interested in politics as the off-year elections approach, her outrageous statements will only help those voters the dems need while not attracting any new voters they don't already have.
