Why would a Senator start campaigning now when his election is in Nov?
I think it is because he has the money.

Next Tuesday is the Virginia Democratic Primary to choose the Dem candidate for Senate.

Tonight I heard three ads by Republican Senator George Allen. He isn't on the ballot on Tuesday. His race isn't until November. I don't know which candidate he prefers to run against. I wonder if he will vote Tuesday.

A while back, he thought he was a shoo-in and was looking past this election to the Presidential election in 2008. He hasn't done a lot of visible fund raising but suddenly, he has the money to put out ads for an election he isn't even in.

He is all for Women's rights, because he earmarked money for Breast cancer when he was Governor. :sarcasm:

Watch out for this around the country, The republicans are gonna spend a LOT of money to try to keep a majority in both houses.

It is very important that you vote in November. Our country depends on your vote.

6. Did you spend a lot of money on the media that early?
These were ads on MSNBC.
I don't know if they aired Nationally or if MSNBC can air ads in specific areas. Either way, I am sure their ad time is expensive.
Allen is throwing a LOT of money out NOW and I do believe it is because he has a lot more where that came from.

2. That is why I like the British and Canadian system better.
The election season starts the day the PM dissolves parliament and it lasts about a month. Candidates get free airtime for commercials and campaigns are publicly financed.

3. Everyone in America would love that system. Where can we............
....find more info of the actual process - not necessarily the candidates, but rather the process itself?? If we'd take the money out of campaigns in this country we might just get candidates who did something after their elected.

I'd be interested in whatever info, links, etc you can offer. Many thanks ahead of time.

4. Don't suggest that people go and vote...
Their votes don't matter. Diebold is going to determine who wins. Voting is irrelevant. :sarcasm:

5. Some day The people will wake up
and realize that discrepancies between Exit polls and the winner of an election means that there is a problem somewhere that needs to be fixed.

A landslide in the exit polls combined with the loss of the election may be what it takes. We can't have any more close elections, we ALL have to get out and vote in order to stop the insanity.
