really didn't want to have to look at bill bennett..but all I saw was just part of the interview, right?

3. There's still a bit more than...

...either my transcript or the C&L video shows, just some chatter as Bennett settles in, and a joke Stewart makes about gay cruises, and one or two other lines of minor consequence.

A weird thing was how genial (and unarmed) Bennett was while promoting intolerance. The old banality of evil, I suppose, but also a degree of detachment that reminds one of the recent quote from a Bush confidant that Dubya doesn't "give a shit" about gay marriage. It's so plainly just a hunk of red-state meat tossed to the wingnuts. Perhaps the message to the base is that we'll do your bidding even when our heart's not in it.
