Am I so out of touch?
I'm listening to that moron, Hatch, on cspan2 right now. heh! he just said his own church supports traditional marriage -- what a frigging joke! Traditional as in one man, many women!

Back to topic. He's saying how this ammendment was important to the "regular people." That people are talking about it and they are demanding it. Not just that they want it, but that they are demanding it!

I live in a liberal state, RI, but it's also the most Catholic state in the country. NOT ONE PERSON I KNOW is concerned about gay marriage. Not a single person.

Am I out of touch or is Orin Hatch a liar? Oh jeeze, I wonder.

Asshole.

I normally mute the republicans because my blood pressure goes through the roof listening to these lying, bigoted assholes.

And I calls 'em like I sees 'em. If you're against same-sex marriage, you're a bigot. period. Democrats included. And I don't give a shit what your religion says. I don't believe in your religion!

2. They do this kinda stuff in their speaking all the time
"The American people support this". "This is important to the hard working American people." "The American people expect us to do our jobs and pass this amendment". It's all just psychobabble, spoken to try to influence the idiots of the country.

3. Orrin Hatch is a jerk
Edited on Tue Jun-06-06 02:31 PM by alyce douglas
this should be a state issue, not a federal issue. What the hell, these jerks have nothing else to talk about.

Get on phone and call Reed and Chafee to oppose this amendment and stop wasting people's time with this stuff. Leave the gays alone.

9. Reed and Chafee
Both are against the ammendment. Both voted against it last time. I've written them and said I'm writing to let them know I agree with them because they probably only hear from people who disagree with them.

I also suggested to chafee that if he had any balls he'd get up there and speak out against it.

I also threw in how the Repukes have been on the wrong side of history on every single social issue in the past half-century and haven't they learned anything.

13. There have also been allegations that Hatch and others are engaged
in a political coverup relating to efforts of Mormons and others in the Justice Dept. to protect polygamists, including the cult in Colorado City.

Most Wanted In Polygamy Coverup:
What Did They Know And When Did They Know It?

-snip-

Hatch knows that the FBI has chosen to look the other way on the issue partly because when the bureau was created by J. Edgar Hoover, it was staffed with Mormon "G-men", who went easy on their polygamist "brothers".

As an example, Jay Beswick, a dedicated child advocate who for years
lived with his family on the edge of the FLDS border towns of Hildale,
Utah - Colorado City, Arizona, sent a package to the Baltimore FBI (who handle child pornography) with evidence about underage marriages inside the polygamy cults. It went unacknowledged aside from postal signatures

Reports Reconfirm Hatch Said He Condones Polygamy

-snip-

Bob Curran, director of an anti-polygamy group in St. George called Help the Child Brides, asked Hatch if he knew girls as young as 13 and 14 were being forced into marriages with older men living in the nearby twin polygamous towns of Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, Ariz. "I wouldn't throw accusations around unless you know they're true," Hatch cautioned Curran and another speaker, Sonja Blancke, who also questioned the senator on his position.

"I'm not here to justify polygamy," Hatch said. "All I can say is, I know people in Hildale who are polygamists who are very fine people. You come and show me evidence of children being abused there and I'll get involved. Bring the evidence to me."

12. He's repugnant.
It appears his church supports marriage, but what they support is using women as breed sows. Also, one migh look at the abnormally high incest rates and rape statistics in Utah. They get tired of their breed sows, and move onto the kids, or they troll State street to solicit/prey on runaway teens. I know too many friends from Mormon families who were molested or whose kids were molested by family members who are considered 'good, upstanding Mormons'. When I was a teen, I baby sat for a woman who had 6 kids, and who always looked so worn out. She ended up committing suicide, leaving several toddlers. He makes me sick, and so do all hypocritical, pointificating prigs. I say, save gays from the sanctimony of marriage.
