Rape and cash buyoff, the true definition of Traditional Marraige - anyone
know how much 50 shekels translates into today's dollars?

28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;

29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

Sure would wreck the entire wedding industry, huh? Guess why this isn't the traditional definition of marraige that they've decided to protect.

3. You have to take into account the ultimate "christian" tradition
Picking and choosing in the bible the passages which make you feel good about hating other humans and ignoring those that may be inconvenient. Praise the lord!!

5. I always use that verse as an example when people quote OT scriptures
about homosexuality. When someone says to me "It's an abomination before the Lord", I usually respond "Doesn't that come from the same part of the Bible that instructs us to stone urban rape victims if they don't scream loudly enough to be rescued?". They usually hedge and haw at that point, because most don't know the OT very well outside of Genesis, the Psalms and the Prophets. I usually follow it up with "if God has such a problem with it, let Him deal with it".

4. All the truth!
The commoner of the past had no contact with the kings or potentates of countries or areas, but those who did had to petition for the "right to fornicate"! This was the beginning of "marriage" as it is allowed today and did not always mean one wife or one husband. It did of course have much to do with "family" and that caused a great many incestuous defects in births that were "removed". Try to remember that Jesus was born into this society and the world was still FLAT.
Christianity or the bible has nothing to do with the sanctity of "marriage"!
