3. While I agree with your sentiment, we should also remember that

it was a real majority of the amerikan sheeple did vote in favor of prejudice and bigotry over doing the right thing in 1980, it wasn't just the wingnutz. In fact, though I'm sure they'd never admit it, many here on DU voted for raygun and, therefore, the demise of America.

4. Well, it is an argumentative statement, the way you said it.

But there is something to the fact the Reagan had no interest in curing AIDS or funding research for discovering how it was transmitted and how it wasn't. Old videos of that era showed public service people with rubber gloves on, even bus drivers. I wonder how many lives could have been saved if people had known sooner about how condoms could prevent spread of infection.
