A man, a woman, two kids, and a station wagon in the garage it ain't.
Bush and his Evangelical base aren't promoting family values at all. They're preaching hatred, bigotry, discrimination, and hypocrisy.
Father to Son: "Jimmy, do you see those two men over there?"
Son: "Yes, Daddy."
Father: "They're what people call gay. And that's wrong. The Bible says so, and so does Pastor Dobson."
Son: "What's so wrong about it?"
Father: "It's a destructive lifestyle, Jimmy. They're not a family. A family is a man and a woman and their children. God created mankind to reproduce, bring new life into the world, and protect and nurture that life."
Son: "Then why do we kill innocent people in Iraq?"
Father: "That's different, Jimmy. We're fighting terrorism when we do that."
Son: "Then why did Mommy go to the doctor last month to get rid of the baby she was going to have?"
Father: "Well, Jimmy, that's because your Mommy and me aren't going to be living together any longer. We're getting a divorce. It has nothing to do with you, we both love you very much, but we aren't happy with each other any more. A baby would have just complicated things. You understand, don't you?"
Son: "I'm not sure. So we're not going to be a family anymore?"
Father: "Of course we'll still be a family, Jimmy! We just won't be living under the same roof. We'll still be a family, though. Does that make sense?"
Son: "I'm not sure. So it's OK as long as we're doing it, but it's not OK for anyone else to do it?"
Father: "You just have to take my word for it, Jimmy. You have to trust me to tell you the right thing. And listen to good men like Pastor Dobson, who preach the word of God."
Son: "But Pastor Dobson doesn't think those two men should be able to get married."
Father: "That's right, Jimmy. And that's because they're gay. They aren't a family."
Son: "But Daddy, they have a kid named Joey. He's in my class at school, and they all still live together. Doesn't that make them more of a family than us?"
Father: "Jimmy, you just have to trust me on this one. It's wrong. Now I've got to go pick up Priscilla, so you just scoot inside and I'll see you in a couple of weeks. And remember, I'll always love you and we're still a family, even if I do live with Priscilla now. And I have good news for you, in a few months, after Mommy and me are divorced, there's going to be a big wedding when I marry Priscilla. And you're going to have a new brother or sister a few months after that! Won't that be great?"
Just another day in the hypocrisy that is America's Evangelical Christian following... :eyes:
