HuffPo: "Rita Cosby has a primetime show, Jack Cafferty does not"
Rita Cosby vs. Jack Cafferty

Cenk Uygur

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/cenk-uygur/rita-cosby-vs-jack-caffe_b_22155.html

The fact that Rita Cosby has a primetime show on a major cable news channel and Jack Cafferty does not is a great indication of what our so-called news stations have become.

Jack Cafferty speaks about all the serious problems the country is facing on a regular basis. So he gets about two and a half minutes a day on CNN (he also has a business show on the weekends, but I'm not really interested in his stock picks).

On Thursday night, Rita Cosby was talking about a Clemson student strangled with her own bikini. A student strangled with her own bikini? The Haditha massacre didn't make the cut that night on this news program, but the bikini killing did. Cosby's show is emotional pornography posing as real news. It's trash with a gloss.

Meanwhile, the next day on CNN, Cafferty takes on every major news story in less than four minutes. Is an hour a day too much to ask for this guy? Watch his latest segment here and see if it wouldn't do a world of good to have him on for longer:

Jack Cafferty on the Important vs. Non-Important Issues of the Day

1. Guess "targeted demographics" don't like"Truth told to those in Authority

Much prefer missing coeds, and husbands, and runaway brides. Prefer hard core scandal...instead of hard core Journalism/News.

Today's 20-30 generation grew up on so-called "Reality Shows" which began in the '80's. Alas...it's come to fruition in Rrrrita. :puke:

2. That VOICE!
Even IF she talked about important subjects, I can't get beyond that hoarse voice ALL THE TIME! She must spend most of her time yelling for her favorite NASCAR driver or meeting her sources in smokey bars! Is this snarky? (I'm still not certain what snarky means.)

3. It's the "LIBERAL" media's fault.
Seriously, Rita is on for pure entertainment...not news.
She's also on to take away from the news...so the uneducated public will stay tuned and keep their ratings up and to help those bush* people from getting any news and finding out what's really going on in the world.
They're doing a good job of keeping the public dumbed down. We get hours of WH propaganda from Wolfie and and hour of trash from (chalk on the board) Rita and a few minutes of truth from Cafferty.
DAMN that LIBERAL MEDIA!!!!!

9. You hit the nail on the head...
...what's central to her "appeal" is that she's a diversion from the real news. It's much easier for the average person to sink into an hour of tabloid garbage than it is to take responsibility for making the world a better place.

12. I liked what Byrne did with the Doctor Doom unmasking...
...but won't say anything about it here, because that would really be a "spoiler."

Kirby quit after 100 issues, which on one hand was a disappointment and on the other was a wise move...no bad issues.

I thought Byrne stayed on a while after the muse had flown off, but that can be said of just about any title he's worked on. It starts with the buildup, a few shattered expectations and new trails blazed, then the inevitable letdown. But middle period Byrne...excellent.

Comes on at five
She can tell you bout the plane crash with a gleam
In her eye
Its interesting when people die
Give us dirty laundry"

7. Great post! Kicked & Recommended
This post brings to light everything that is wrong with the media in America today. Basically, journalism has been pushed aside for tabloid style "reporting". Granted, the possibility does exist that one of Rita's boobs may fall out of her cute red silk sport jacket at any time, but nonetheless, true journalism is about major issues of the day. There is a time and place for boobs.

Jack Cafferty is great. I think he should replace Wolf.

10. Oh, c'mon! Jack is an idiot, while Rita keeps me informed about Aruba
Besides, I love Rita's voice which is a cross between an asthmatic gasping for air and a woman under the influence of her vibrator.

13. Pimping stories with pretty coeds as the victim gets the ratings
And for what it's worth - Rita Cosby is a pig.
