Poll question: Who will apolitical airheads vote for in November?
You know the type - the shopping mall bimbettes that say "Bush is okay, but, like I really liked Bill Clinton with his sax! But that thing with Monica and the dress!, What - EVER!

Or the surfer himbos who are all: "Yeah, I could go for Kerry if he would just loosen up. What a dweeb. Bush is like, fighting the terrorists and all, but like I dunno, he just seems kinda wierd."

So basically, who will the people who basically understand politics on a "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" level pick?

For those that say #3 - I'm sorry, but I think a LOT of them do - sadly.

7. Nah, this choice is just fine by me
I firmly believe that the average untutored man in the street will be inclined to continue to support the Commander in Chief.

Exit polls showing how many people were willing to vote ABB often negelected to mention that they were polls of the minority of Democrats who actually came out to vote.

Those are the people motivated to take the time, and endure the inconvenience of showing up and voting.

As to the rest? They'll make their decision on the way to the voting booth, just like always. Are they likely to vote for a tax-and-spend liberal insider from Taxachusetts? Sure. No problem. History has shown how the average voter just drools over the opportunity to cast a vote for a Yankee liberal.

History in Bizarro world, actually. All the motorcycles and vets and hockey won't disguise Kerry's voting record or the reasons why he was rated 100% by both the Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

And then there's that little question about what happened AFTER he recieved his well deserved medal and commendations. If that famous picture of Kerry with his arm around Jane Fonda during the anti-war years actually exists, you can be sure it'll be floating around the Internet just as soon as Kerry is safely anointed as the nominee. The cover of his book, with the upside down US flag, keeps showing up all over the place. It is the past, but the past is what we build the present upon.

8. If it does, we democrats should
make perfectly clear once and for all what the meaning of an upside-down flag is. It is NOT disrespectful to the flag or this country. It is a cry of distress, or dissent against a government overrun with tyrants and lunatics. If Kerry had spit on the flag or stomped on it it would be different. I flew my flag upside-down for 6 months last year, from the moment the war drumbeat started. I only stopped because after a while I felt it might seem a bit melodramatic to continue until Nov '04...

9. They're the problem in every election. How do we handle them?
They are also part of the reason I think Edwards would be good.

10. uhg!
come on!
do we want to win this election or create more reasons to turn people away from voting?
do we want to represent this country or only those who we think are paying attention?

You may think my response is reactionary, however, I think you need to reconsider how you label and dismiss people.

15. Those types are NOT reading DU.
I guarantee it. And also, if they did, they would think I was talking about someone else.

11. I think more apolitical people will vote this year.
So many people are unemployed, or afraid of losing their jobs. Kids about to graduate from college are facing the worst job market in years. In times like this, I think people will want change. I think they will vote against Bush.

I've never really been into politics until now. Sure, I voted against Republicans whenever possible, but I was pretty apathetic.
