BIG Labor state. However, we had our first Republican governor here for the first time since statehood. Her politics are somewhat between Chafee and Whitman (I know she is not like the Continental US Republicans). She is a hawk. It's a good thing we have a Democratic legislature to stop her reforms (i.e. abolishment of the State Land Board).

Sen. Inouye backs the veteran John Kerry.
