Anybody just see Tucker Carlson on CNN (re: Clark)?
He said something like "unfortunately, Clark's going to stick around" (paraphrasing)..

Unfortunately? Ha! If that isn't proof that these people JUST WANT CLARK OUT, then I don't know what is. Sharpton, Dean, Kucinich, still in? That's great! Clark hasn't dropped out yet (even though he's right up in the thick of things)? FOR SHAME!

Pathetic. It just gets more and more obvious. I understand this kind of thing coming from Republicans, but for TV pundits to make it so clear that they despise Clark and just want him to DROP OUT NOW (why? they won't say, but "drop out now, Clark, dammit!"), is just despicable..

1. Tucker is just suffering from testosterone envy. After all, it isn't easy
being a pundit before puberty.

13. How old is Tucker anyway
and at what age do you think he actually will reach puberty. Maybe he could benefit from some hormone treatments.

I really am still holding out for Tucker to have a David Brock moment. I don't think he's evil in the way that most RW pundits are.

8. "Clark" is probably too difficult for him to pronounce
Just as the appeal of someone with credentials like Clark's is too difficult for him to understand.

What I'm trying to say (poorly) is that Tucker Carlson is a f***ing idiot. But we knew that.

9. It's disgusting.
I'm listening to some idiot drone on about the "implosion" of Howard Dean (nevermind the fact that he's SECOND in delegates) and all day they've been screaming and speculating that Clark is going to drop out of the race if he didn't win Oklahoma.

Well, he won. So STFU!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........... I so f-ing HATE our media!

19. Are Dean's prospects for more delegates better than Kerry, Edwards, Clark?
Dean has no momentum right now. That's why they're writing him off. He has a good stash right now, but has no prospects.

Even Larry King wasn't too nice, imo. Tucker was just as big a jerk as ever about Clark.

24. Don't forget...
Don't forget Judy Woodruff & Bob Novak. Novak was venomously negative about Clark's campaign tonight, and Woodruff continued to write it off.

Paul Begala actually uttered a kind word about Clark's win in OK, though. I was startled.

15. Tucker Carlson
single handedly got me to turn from CNN coverage to MSNBC in about 30 seconds during NH coverage. Like I'd ever watch FOX even if Brit Hume (AKA Frankenstein) wasn't doing the coverage.
I didn't even bother with any of the others tonight.

Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 12:53 AM by DrFunkenstein
I heard him on Leonard Lopate (a liberal NYC interviewer) and he sounded pretty reasonable (for a conservative chump). I don't think he is a big fan of Bush, although he clearly thinks Bush is preferable to any Dem.

Maybe California people can help me out, but he was described as a California conservative, which is somehow different in certain ways from normal conservatives? Anyone know about this?

18. Reagan was the original California conservative,
so that doesn't seem like much of an endorsement. At any rate, to hazard a guess, I'd say it means conservatism without the bible thumping that one sees in the South and Midwest.

I read a couple of interviews with Carlson where he came across as rational and likeable, but then I've read transcripts of his programs where he is a typical right-wing whore. Which is essentially what he is, since if he is capable of rational thinking, but then chooses to act the way he does on his shows, he's obviously sold himself.

for your candidate - what, me, worry about the media?
Hint: teflon for the democrats is temporary - just until we pick the nominee we want. Then Tucker would be repulsive even to you (asuming your candidate gets that far)

26. Yes, I just noticed the headline on msn.com
Said Kerry was big winner with 5 states, Edwards won SC.. no mention of Clark.

Are his press people bad, has the media really written him off, or are they trying discourage others from supporting him?

27. His press people would have nothing to do with it.
Keep in mind that most media people are mediocre generalists with journalism degrees. They simply repeat what the experts tell them. This includes editors and so on. The experts decided South Carolina was important, so it is -- never mind the fact that it's Edwards' birth state, and he's a senator in the neighboring state: taking such things into consideration would require critical thinking and a desire to learn something beyond a shallow, facile depth, which journalists ain't too good at.

in a show that gave air time to the campaigns of kerry, Edwards and Dean - period.
