Kerry is now the front runner. All he has to do is run out the clock on the primaries. The more candidates that are left, the happier he is.

To take Kerry down, it has to be a two man race and the person in the best position to take Kerry on in a two man race is Edwards.

4. "If Satan cast out Satan, how would his kingdom stand?"
You can't expect a DLC candidate to take out another DLC candidate. Though there's absolutely no question that Edwards is infinitely the more tolerable of the two.

5. None of them will drop
Edwards, Clark and Dean are all going to be in this for at least another week. We're winnowing. It just seems like a really long time, cuz we're all so involved.

9. Agreed
And each moment seems longer because the media pundits and Terry McAuliffe trying to short-circuit the democratic process makes the time more painful. (Yeah, yeah, except for you Kerry fans.)

6. Why is the goal to take out Kerry? I am a Clark supporter myself
but my goal is get the nominee who the people vote for. He isn't my first choice but there is obviously something about him that alot of people like. Let the voters decide.

I will vote my heart in the primary and my head in the GE.

7. Crazy concept here.... sorry to interject....
I've got a crazy concept here... sorry to interject, but... I'm *still* thinking that the goal is to beat George Bush in November. And the candidate with the best qualifications for that task is Wes Clark.

So feel free to chat about some potential Kerry/Edwards showdown, but, for anyone focused on winning this Fall, I'd suggest we all keep hitting the media to cover the issues and candidates' records and experience -- rather than poll numbers.

8. If it comes down to a Kerry-Edwards race here, I won't vote for Edwards.
I can't. If he gets the nod, I will. But with a choice?
No.

To some of us, he's part of the same problem.

15. I see it another way...
...the longer all candidates stay in, with their questioning of *, the longer the media is forced, against its will, to cover the anti-* contingent.

Therefore and consequently (heh), let the field remain in play. If the DNC can't afford it, that speaks more to their ability to rouse the base than to my ability to pick up the slack when they can't.

So says me. :-)

16. And who said the goal was 'to take down Kerry'
My goal has never been to 'take down a candidate' but to propel my candidate ahead of the pack.

The whole 'taking down' crap is what has gotten me so pissed off over the past few months - beginning of course with the wonderfully Democratic inspired Stop Dean movement. Bless Democrats like that, they chill my heart and blood.

First, get Bush out of the White House. Second, take down the party and rebuild it into something that works, or find some other mechanism for political expression.

18. An interesting side note here...The UAW here in Michigan has yet
to endorse a candidate, and I am beginning to wonder if they will. The candidates have pretty much ignored Michigan with the exception of 1 or 2. This is a big state with 154 delegates...a lot of big states come after that. Let's be Democrats and wait it out. :hi: I am hoping that no more candidates drop out, because I want my party back. :7

19. if we want to win in november
Kerry,Dean, Edwards, Kucinich and Sharpton need to drop out. As long as we're presuming to tell candidates what to do, Bush might want to think about doing an LBJ, too. And Zell miller should retire early Bill Frist should go into the hair transplant business, beginning with himself. Oh yeah, Tom Delay should drop off the face of the planet. I just dropped my Knob Creek and water. Shit.

20. Yeah, you know, I'm just not seeing Edwards as an electable candidate.
He's got a pretty face, but he's basically an empty suit. No real ideas, no leadership skills, very little experience.

He oughta throw in the towel, for the good of the party.
