Power ranking in Congress.
We know that the Dems get blamed by the MSM for any failures of Congress. Here's an interesting look at who holds the power. There are a few changes since this chart was made. One for the good is DeLay's fall from #2 in the House. One interesting item is the low ranking of our leaders, Hillary at 41, Kerry at 61, and Feingold at 82.

1. How exactly are those rankings determined, I wonder?
I mean, Barack Obama is my Senator and I like him a lot, but I can't believe he's seen as more powerful than Russ Feingold.

2. Other than a few really good speechs what has he done?
Just curious, I've been waiting. He has been a huge disappointment to me, in fact I fear he will be nothing more than another white man in a black man's skin. Why do you really like him?

Snip>How powerful are those who represent you in Congress? Power is often hard to define, but for Congress it boils down to how effective one is at advancing an agenda, whether it is a personal agenda, party agenda or district or state agenda. Much of the power in Congress derives from tenure or years in Congress, which drive assignment to key committees (and eventually status as chair or ranking member). But years of service in Congress does not automatically equate to power as some long term members have very little power while freshmen can sometimes be effective or powerful right out of the starting gate.<snip
