Disney also collecting your information

a caller on Wash. Journal told us that at the Fl. theme park in order to get in you have to give a photo I.D. which they copy, they photograph you, and fingerprint two fingers.

all this just to have fun at a carnival location????????

I'd turn around and leave.

Disney has always been neo con.

3. Disney has always been neo con???
Have you ever seen the Wiggles? I think their population of gay employees negates that statement...

6. Untrue. My wife and I go there often.
They do not require a photo id. They do not fingerprint you.

If you buy a multi-day or annual pass, the first time you use it you put two fingers into a "biometric" device.

It it not to "collect information", but to prevent you from letting others use your pass.

9. Thanks.
I'd never heard that before, and it sounded a little far-fetched to me.

12. Since 9/11 they do search bags as you enter the park.
But that's true of most every large venue. They may require an id to purchase a pass when you use a credit card, but many places/stores do that.

13. I understand that.
They searched my bag when I went to see Lucinda Williams at an outdoor venue last summer. Welcome to life, post-9/11.

7. LOTS of places collect your information.
Do you have one of those "customer cards" at your local grocery store that gives you a better price when you scan it at checkout? They collect YOUR info! Certainly for their own marketing purposes, but they still keep it by individual.

How about a frequest flyer membership?

Most online stores keep track of what you bought from them.

I suspect Disney is doing this because of the sheer volume of people who enter their parks and get lost in the crowd. If some crime were to take place there, at least there would be a starting point to search.

10. you can use the grocery card and not give your personal info

at each of the two grocerys here I said I didn't want to fill out the info so they just gave me the card anyway.

15. Do you really think...
a theme park that specializes in effeciently moving huge amounts of people, especially young children, in and out everyday is going to photocopy everybody's id, fingerprint, and photograph them before letting them on It's A Small World?

16. Uh.. that's bullshit. That's not true at all...
You are not required to show an ID at Disney unless you are using a credit card. And Disney has not "always been Neo-Con" It has just mutated since Walt died.

18. No finger prints or pictures
Certain multiple day tickets or passes now require you to put two fingers into a biometric scanner that keeps other from using the same ticket. You do not have to show ID unless you are using credit card or are getting some passes that are restricted to certain groups. I have a time share at Disney and get a discount on annual passes for me and my family members and so I do have to show a drivers license (which they did not copy and my kids had to show ID to show that they were related to me.
