The Original USA Today story says "Sources Say The NSA Made It Clear That It Was Willing To Pay for the cooperation by the Telcos"

If the Telcos Were Paid By The NSA For The Info how did they reflect this payment in their financials. If they didn't reflect it in their financials and covered it up - I would believe they would have additional problems. Would a CPA please comment on this.

The same questions holds - tf the data was provided to another company that then provided the info to the NSA.

If the Telcos were paid to provide info - how did they treat that payment in their financial statements?

What I'm eluding to is that there might be some 'cook the books' problems for the Telcos. Maybe by scrutinizing their financials it can be tracked back.

Certainly - DU has some contributor to this board that is a CPA that can enlighten us on this.

1. I have no idea how much $$ they would have been paid, but

the gross receipts of a telco is sooo big, it would me very small in relation to the gross, and could very easily get lost simply listed in misc. revenues.

The only time an exception like this is listed as a separate line item in a financial report is when it's a significant % of income, and therefore skews the net income results.

i'm sure the income is included in their financial filings, it's just so small, it would never be noticed.
