4. Dean was great
Stewart was just poking a little fun at the doorknocker, but Dean was sharp and made his points and the audience loved him.

6. He was fine. As much as Jon let him be he
was fine. Jon made the door hangers a complete joke, which they are. But who knows. It could have been set up.
He could have told everyone all of Dem's plans. But I don't think it wise. He's a great guy.

10. stewart wanted to continue his "dems have no plan" when dean
pulled out the plan, better to ridicule the door knob hanger than to listen to the dem plan. then stewart can continue to promote dems have no plan. dean was prepared to set him straight dems have a plan and stewart didnt allow. other than that it was a good show

11. JESUS Fing Christmas ...
I am sick to death of EVERY media person spouting the freakin meme that Ds don't have a plan, then yell over whoever it is the momenth they start laying things out ... Even the "good guys" like Stewart and Maher ... Maher got all crinkly faced when Clark started and cut him, almost as bad a Stewart did to Dean ...

13. exactly. gotta keep that talking point going at all cost
the people demand thing of our elected officials and since the campaign 2004 dems have been giving it..... they listened and they have not gotten any credit. jsut the same old tired lines to pretend it isnt happening. that has got to be frustrating on top of being just comical now to see it happen.

no attack politics (a big one dirung campaign and kerry/edwards gave it, yet still would be in the both sides do it)
speak out (dems have been doing it all over place since jan 6, 2005)
honest (we dont hear our leaders lyin like dogs. and it is easy to hear lie)
morality (i see it all over with our dems)
and the dem plan (listened to kerry's during campaign, and as much as people like to say kerry is oh so confusing, guess i am just brite cause was easy as pie for me. and since)

I want out now.

It's part of the political cultural myth that the Dems don't have a plan--and I'm willing to bet that Dean suggested that the question be brought up so he could address it.

Which he did very well.

How are some DUers survivng this administration with no discernible sense of humor whatsoever?!

Geez. DU, den of the drama queen! Jon Stewart's reaction to the doorhanger thing was residual kneejerk "Democrats are always pathetic" stuff, but he drew Dean out on some interesting stuff (50-state organizing). Dean was a little over-eager to be funny (typical of politicians on the Daily Show) but was generally fine.

15. Yep -- good assessment.
Howard could have been a little more relaxed -- but, hey, easy for me to say, right? I'd be a nervous wreck if I were interviewed on national teevee.

16. I agree. Howard looked a little nervous and I think that's perfectly
normal in the situation.

Jon Stewart takes no prisoners and even if you believe he's "on your side" you still know that the zinger is just waiting for you.

He seemed to relax after the "signal that Dems are having sex" comment from Stewart.

I :loveya: Howard Dean! MKJ

20. Dean didn't do so good imo
He did seem a little too eager to be funny and didn't really seem to make any point. Dean has never been too good on TV in an interview as he trips over his words often. I didn't feel like Dean was spreading a very good message other than "Democrats don't have a message, I want to change that." WTF!?! You are the democratic party, why is he still using his anti-establishment rhetoric when he is the establishment.

A wasted oppurtunity to really come out and give a positive face to the Democrats and energize us. Stop with the "Democrats suck, but not me!" lines.

21. I thought Dean did
fine and he was totally laughing at all of Stewart's jokes. Dean was having a great time..when Jon asked him about the immigration he said, "how is bush going to find 12 million illegals when he can't find a 6'4'' terrorist?"

He said a million doors had been knocked on in all 50 states and they planned to do that 4 or 5 more times.

The audience was really warm and loving it too.

He didn't say anything and especially didn't say anything I wanted to hear. What was his solution on immigration? To give them amnesty better than the republicans? I usually like Dean, but I'm getting a little sick of Democrats saying nothing on immigration.

on edit, wanted to clarify, I never said Dems don't have 'a plan', they do, just not a plan on immigration.

a media manufactured hyped up issue - is not necessarily THE issue impacting our democracy and our Constitution and Bill of Rights, it's not even really a socio-economic crises except in the imaginations of those who say it is so.

and it's a pathetic testimony of the breath of thinking among so many among our citizenry. No the fuck wonder bush was able to steal the last two elections, in plain sight.

I challenge you to go see the film An Inconvenient Truth when it is released - take special note of the massive migration of evacuees from sudden and catastrophic climate conditions over the entire globe including the United States.

It is even possible that mass migrations/evacuations of Americans might have to flee to Mexico just to survive climatic catastrophy.

the so callled "on slaught" may even be reversed and we will be treated as you would like to treat our neighbors who come out of survival necessity.

i'm only saying... problems we are facing are so much bigger than the so called "illegal immigration" problems and it isn't really a "crises" at all.
