We lost....
The USA Today disinformation campaign worked. Specter cuts deal to legalize the NSA activity and shield the government from any judicial challenges, and Bush agrees to “full oversight”. Congress will never follow the equipment. No suits will be able to be brought. The corporations and NSA will be able to continue to build all six data bases unfettered. American sheeple will be placated. No one can oppose a “legal” activity. The epitaph is being written for a free press. Game over…

Well democracy was a nice experiment while it lasted. I guess everything has to end sometime. I have to hand it to them it was a pretty slick plan. If you thought things were bad it just got worse.

FUCK

21. America on Lockdown: Love it or Leave It
That just popped into my head as a catchy title for this modern-day tragedy we are living through.

The worst thing about what's happening is: WE HAVE NO CHOICE

There aren't any other companies we can go to if we don't want our information sold.

We have no choice in the outcome of elections.

We have no choice in communicating our concerns.

We have no choice in what we see on television or hear on the radio.

Where there are choices, most Americans can't afford them. Millions can't afford to even hook up to the web. Millions more can't buy satellite radio or organic food.

This is terrible. There is nothing we can do about it except accept it and give up television, give up our phones our computers--

Yep. They win.

Everything.

3. Not much else to say
Now that they have this power, thery're going to use it for the worst purpose - retention of power at all costs.

I'm hoping for some sanity, but I see little evidence of it. Even after a victory in November there's little that can be done unless people realize and speak up. Even then, it may take decades to undo the damage.

Fuck, indeed.

4. Key phrase "Specter cuts deal" - par for Arlen's course.
He makes the moderate votes when it doesn't matter, but when the pedal hits the metal, W can count on Arlen.

5. I truly believe
Bush has some smack on this goober.
Bush has been listening to his and all the rest of the republicans phone calls as much as to the press and the dems. It is more important for bush to have something over his own people... we see signs of this thru out the 6 years over and over so he can twist their arms for things like Iraq, the Patriot Act and other things.

6. I suspect this also.
I wonder where they keep the records of all the secrets, dirty deals, letters, photos, etc. I wonder who's in charge of that...

Filthy manner of 'ruling', but quite effective.

15. I love your post.....it made me laugh, it's as though you
read my mind. Just yesterday I was thinking the same damn thing! Why else would the pubs roll over and risk losing their seats? You know these slimeballs would stop at nothing.

There is no doubt in my mind that Bushco has been compiling data on the whole congress for years.......

Hell, they have been listening to millions of regular law-abiding Americans, simple logic tells you it's true. But people don't want to believe it!!

7. Its not over
The average voter hasn't forgotten and will be p*ssed off about it until the next election. It was a massive betrayal and breach of trust.

Things may look "fixed" for now, but they can be undone later.

8. It's The Same Old Specter...
Why anyone here ever thinks he will really do ANYTHING when he says he will is beyond me.

Even MODERATE Repukes who aren't on the same page as the WH will ALMOST ALWAYS vote for THEIR party!! It happens ALL the time!! And it has gotten MUCH WORSE these past five years!

The Chimp would have signed on to whatever, while uttering his "signing statement".
This bunch will do whatever they damn please, and laugh at us while doing it.

Everything is secret now and under investigation by the secret intell committee.

And all the articles are saying this is a win for US citizens.

Makes me ill.

I've been searching and I haven't seen a thing.

Thanks! ;)

You should comment about the NSA spying here - I did.

16. Exactly so. It's over. We have to spend our time on false flag ops
like this Jason Leopold story, rather than do what needs to be done to take our democracy back..

my fellow american citizens are so fucking useless and stupid.

19. do the good guys ever win?
Soviets lost the cold war, but look who won. Germany and Japan lost WWII, but look who won. Confederates and slave holders lost the Civil War, but look who won. Saddam lost the Iraqi War, but look who won. King George III lost the revolutionary war, but look who won. Napoleon lost the battle of Waterloo, but look who won. Mexico lost the Mexican War, but look who won. Jesus was nailed to the cross, but look who won. The Roman Empire eventually fell, but look who won. Lucifer was thrown out of heaven, but look who won. Abel was killed, but look who won. The war on terrorism is still being fought, but who will win?

Does good ever win, can it beat evil? Can a salesman selling something for what its worth outdo a salesman pushing something for nothing? Can the politician supporting less government in return for higher taxes beat a politician supporting more government for lower taxes? Can the government that tells the truth while providing peace, liberty, and justice last longer than one that promises everything while using war, brutality, and secrecy to take everything?
