He is really begin gracious! It was a more eloquent concession than Gephardt.

Joe might be a "DINO" but he's still a Democrat and I'd have a drink with him anytime. :toast:

17. There are some people here tonight...
I hope have a hard time eating a pretzel. For some of the things said on this board lately about Joe Lieberman have been deplorable. Joe Lieberman is one of the best Democrats anyone could ask for, if you didn't agree with his policies, at least you knew what they were.

GIVEM HELL JOE!

20. I've always liked Joe
I would have happily voted for him in a general election and if he were from my state, he would eagerly get my vote in the Senate. I've always felt he got a bad rap here since he is one of the last "Conservative" Democrats in national politic. But if you look at his record, he almost always votes the way you would want a Democrat to vote.

Finally, if we had 100 Senators with his grace, dignity, humor and flat-out decency, we would be a much better country.

PS: His daughter really is a hottie.

25. I missed the speech
but if it's garnering this much praise from DU of all places, where he's been consistently demonized for the past 4 years, it must've been quite something.

Does anybody have a link?

I admit that I won't miss his pro-war talk in the debates and while campaigning, but I wish him no ill will. I think he's a good person. Bush isn't even fit to take out Lieberman's trash.

34. We should also remember...
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 12:26 AM by fujiyama
He's the rightful vice president. I never really hated the guy. His voting record shows that he's not nearly as far to the right as people sometimes say he is. An interesting thing that many probably don't know is one of the major environmental groups barely endorsed Kerry over Lieberman, because their record was so similar -- meaning they were really pretty great.

I disagreed with him about the war, but I think that he's a fine American. He really believes what he says...

I wish him luck in his career in the senate. I do hope he's a bit tougher on corporate crime and doesn't pander as much to those industries that are big in his state, such as pharmacuiticals and insurance...and is a bit lighter on his censorship and moralizing.

Either way, I would have taken him in a second over George W Bush.
