Former Senator Bob Graham last night said "People don't choose their Repre
Representatives, the Representatives choose their voters"

The former Senator spoke to my daughter's High School Young Democrats Club last night in MA

He also said that he had no inkling of what has been announced regarding the gathering of phone records while he was Chair of Senate Select Committee; he did find it odd that something was up when John Poindexter was named to head a Pentagon office which would have resulted in essentailly the same thing if Poindexter's announcement hadn't garned such negative press at the time. He thought the matter was resolved then but said "obviously, I was wrong"

He reminded the audience that Poindexter was infamous for Iran Contra fame.

1. That's certainly the mechanism at play with the redistricting battles....
Didn't they used to have a charming-sounding term for that...gerrymandering?

3. They are very good at getting elected
....and very bad a governing. David Gergin made that observation when discussing current representatives longevity in office. Because of gerrymandering they seem to decide who comes and who goes.

2. Yep. Only 4% of House races were marginal in 2004
Meaning that their was a spread of less than 10% between the winner and loser.

4%. That's Soviet-esque.
