3. Rove's indictment won't help
Edited on Sat May-13-06 02:49 AM by cyclezealot
BUt, ROve is just the tip of the ice berg....There is a whole pr communications - industry of media consultants who know how to spew Repug hate. Rove is just their chief master at hate. They all think vindictive thoughts. Liberals less so. Reason we loose when we fail at playing dirty.
But, when playing dirty does not get you better conditions for the American people, eventually , hopefully- the chickens come home to roost.

4. Rove ain't no genius. Just ahead of the curve in abandonment of ethics.
Seems to me Rove himself has a certain frat-prank cleverness, but his success arises from utter unscrupulousness, willingness to abandon codes of conduct. There must be thieves who would steal from a store's cash register but not from a donation jar for children with cancer. But the creative force behind John McCain's illegitimate black child and Kerry's dishonorable service is of the same breed as stealing stop signs or painting the privates of public statues. The GOP has learned to embrace the highest form of double-speak and outright policy/rhetoric contradictions, degrading public discourse, political norms, fair representation in a way that makes Boss Tweed look like Mr. Rogers. Rove isn't important to the GOP, except perhaps as a decoy.
Or not.

5. Even he is indicted and resigns...
Doesn't mean he won't be running things, you know.

6. exactly. Even prisoners can communicate with visitors, and if jailed,
Rove will plenty of time on his hands to plot.

I don't think jailing him will eliminate the problem. The ONLY thing that will remove Rove's influence is if his suggestions fail consistently over time, which is beginning to look like a more promising outcome.

8. I personally think he will fail
if you mix the political troubles with his legal ones...

7. I agree with you...
...as long as we DO NOT use this to sit back and relax. Each of us needs to work on our state elections as if Bush's approval was in the 90's.

9. I think a lot of people can imitate his tactics.
They're not really genius so much as they're daringly unscrupulous. It's really his gall that stands out, not his mind.

Besides, he can still take up residence at a right-wing think tank like the American Enterprise Institute or the Heritage Foundation and advise indirectly. He doesn't need to be on the government payroll to come up with direction for Bush* and the Republicans.

But really I think they're going to lose a bunch in November no matter what happens with Rove.

10. Other. He'll still be running things,
even if it's from a jail cell. And, I doubt he'll ever see the inside of a jail cell, btw.
