Senate Bill 1955 -- Health Insurance Marketplace Modernization and Affordability Act of 2006

(House companion Bill HR 525 Small Business Health Fairness Act - passed on July 26, 2005)


This Bill allows small businesses to pool together to buy health insurance to make it more affordable. The main goal is to create "Association Health Plans" (AHPs) However, a provision in the current version of the bill allows insurance companies to stop covering preventative screenings such as mammagrams, colonoscopies etc - regardless of state laws requiring insurance companies to cover these tests.

This bill is scheduled for a full vote - possibly as soon as tomorrow (Friday). Please contact your senators and ask them to vote no on the current version of the bill because of that provision.

5. call, call, call, call, call, call....

w/ the various calling plans out there now, phoning makes the most sense. I have Boxer's & difi numbers 'saved' so I can call whenever I need 2 remind them I'm still here paying attention. Call difi more than I do Boxer tho. Funny that!
