What if gays ruled the world and YOU couldn't get married.

If your partner were in a horrific accident you couldn't see him/her.

If your partner of 45 years died and even though you spent a lifetime together, his/her family were able to take anything they wanted?

That's only the tip of the iceburg.

How would you react?

1. I hope I would be nicer to them than they have been to us...
You probably have seen this, but I'm sure many have not.

Heterosexual Questionnaire

In an effort to develop a basic awareness of heterosexism in society today, the
following questionnaire is aimed at pointing out the many biases that gay, lesbian,
bisexual and transgender people encounter in everyday living. It is a turn-around
experience.

1. What do you think caused your heterosexuality?

2. When and how did you first decide you were a heterosexual?

3. Is it possible your heterosexuality is just a phase you may grow out of?

4. Is it possible your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same
sex?

5. Isn’t it possible that all you need is a good gay lover?

6. If heterosexuality is normal, why are a disproportionate number of mental patients
heterosexual?

7. To whom have you disclosed your heterosexual tendencies? How did they react?

8. Your heterosexuality doesn’t offend me as long as you don’t try to force it on me. Why
do people feel compelled to seduce others into your sexual orientation?

9. If you should choose to nurture children, would you want them to be heterosexual,
knowing the problems they would face?

10. The great majority of child molesters are heterosexual. Do you really consider it safe
to expose your children to heterosexual teachers?

11. Why do you insist on being so obvious, and making a public spectacle of
heterosexuality? Can’t you just be what you are and keep it quiet?

12. Why do heterosexuals place so much emphasis on sex?

13. With all the societal support marriage receives, the divorce rate is spiraling. Why are
there so few stable relationships among heterosexuals?

14. There seem to be very few happy heterosexuals. Techniques have been developed
with which you might be able to change if you really want to. Have you considered
trying aversion therapy?

I LOVE IT!!!!

2. I would hold out for nothing less
than full rights under the law *but* I'd want them bad enough I would be willing to let the majority keep their precious terminology all to themselves (i.e. "marriage").

If you want my opinion the gay community could make huge strides in gaining their proper rights if they'd abandon the word "marriage" and work to achieve "civil unions". Civil unions, IMO, should entail the exact rights as marriage but, so as not to scare the huge majority of Americans living in fear of the hit man in the sky, call it something else.

But no. Many are willing to fight to the death over the term and so they will leave empty handed. Sadly. But by god they clung to that one conviction!!

Oy.

3. Probably pretty lonely
Since we would have a dramatic decrease in population if 90% of the population was homosexual. Not that they couldn't have children, but it certainly wouldn't be happening 'by accident' anymore.

4. It's an interesting concept. Reminds me of the movie "White Man's Burden"
with John Travolta. It's set in an alternate present-time world where white people are the minority and black people are the aristocrats.

I have heard little about it, though, since.

6. Damn...I suppose the first thing to be would be
Edited on Thu May-11-06 06:28 AM by YOY
that we have a whole lot of copulating to do...or the human race is doomed! (barring turkey basters and artificial insemination...) It would be a painful task but one that I would not shirk from...

on edit: You do realize most of us are on your side here, right?

My only MINOR problem with same sex marriage is a possible taxation issue. But that's a minor one and seems like it might require a bit of tailoring to be fair.

8. You're preaching to the choir
I'm a straight man who would gladly welcome every gay couple to my neighborhood.

I'll even bake cakes when they move in next door.

I'm a straight man who is willing to allow for gay **marriage** ...... or be willing to eschew my title of "married" for a title of civil union. What's mine is yours and vice versa.
