Lamarr Alexander is a complete moron.
He's on the floor of the Senate now telling anyone who is awake that the Democrats are preventing expectant mothers from being able to deliver babies in their own home areas. (Wow! Democrats are so powerful. How long have they been in charge of Congress anyway?)

My sympathies to any TN people here. Frist and Alexander would make me question the idea of a merciful God.

4. Why are Rethug Senators so mind-bendingly dull.
George Allen is a disaster. As the Three Stooges once said, "Everytime he thinks, he weakens the nation." Jeff Sessions is enough to make normally sane human beings deeply contemplate having their eyes and ears permanently shut down so that they can never even accidentally be exposed to such idiotic ramblings. (He is the worst public speaker ever. He sounds like he is sucking on a lemon and was just interrupted in time to squeak innanities into a microphone. 'Hlck, and as I said to the Senator from, hlck, Virginia, hlck...' Honestly. What is wrong with him?)

Why can't the Rethugs teach their Senators to speak?

5. You're right -- they're all questionable, but Jeff Sessions does deserve
individual mention.

If he were a live audio artwork, it would be called "Stammering Nazi."

6. That is a great line, and so, so true.
I remember during the Alito filibuster he was all bravely talking trash about Sen. Kerry being in Switzerland and really giving Kerry a hard time.

Then he turns around and Kerry's next in line to speak. The look on his face was good. ("What do you mean he's here. He's in Darvos. Really, he's here? Geez, that bastard's really, really tall. I am so out of here.") He has done that before with other Sens he disagrees with, as long as they are not on the floor of the Senate. (Talk about them behind their kneecaps.)

Honestly, tree frogs make a much more soothing and pleasant sound than Sessions does.

8. TayTay, you should post a poll on DU asking respondents whether
they'd rather listen to Jeff Sessions or a tree frog.

I'd go with the tree frog, definitely.

Back on Lamar Alexander. My friends and I got to referring to him during his ill-fated presidential campaign as "The Shitmaster," and of course he's no better as a senator. Anyway, he reminds me sometimes of Paul Ford's Mayor character in THE MUSIC MAN. In the way he speaks, especially.

9. Old Crusoe, you are right.
A survey would have to be:

Listen to a tree frog during mating season while a hurricane is raging and you are stuck in the house with a crying baby

OR

Listen to the following Senator insanely rambling on and on about Rethuglian bullshit on the Senate floor

George Allen
Jeff Sessions
Lamar Alexander
John Sununu (Hey, us Northerners have drones too!)
Bill Frist (Why does he always sound like he's welcoming someone to their uncles' funeral service. "So sorry for your loss, take a seat in the third row.")

Wayne Allard
Sleepy from Wyoming. I can't remember his name. Every time I see him, I reflexively fall asleep. Damn.

Who else?

I have a feeling he shouldn't be expecting a PETA endorsement for 08.

Yes. The list is long. As for that Wyoming senator, he's a Republican, and no one knows his name. No one knows who is is or even what he looks like. I think he's on the Board of directors at Sominex.

Jim Bunning of Kentucky is as dull a speaker as anyone could ask for. To quote an old roommate of mine, Jim Bunning "could put a hyperactive chimpanzee into a coma."

3. The Scopes Monkey Trial took place in Tennessee in 1925.
Eighty one years later, and that state still loves its knuckle draggers.

7. Monkeys Monkeys Monkeys
You beat me to it. The sad thing is Tennesse has so much culture whether it is music or the beauty of the great smokey mountains. Yet somehow the state seems to produce some of the most dimwitted people and politicans that I have ever seen in myu life.
