Should Rove Be Allowed to Run a Campaign From the WH
Edited on Wed May-10-06 08:58 AM by leftyladyfrommo
at taxpayer expense? Shouldn't he quit and run it from his party's headquarters or his home or where ever? Why are we paying for this?

2. try it again - I fixed it.
Yea, this really pisses me off, too.

Someone should just tally up all the expenses these guys have rung up what with their war and no-bid contracts and everything and just send them a bill for about 400 billion.

5. I thought it was illegal to run political campaigns out of the White House
Or use the military for staged photo ops, or ask for political donations from a government office. But you don't really think that Rove or Chucklenuts are interested in the law, do you?

Seems like I remember the big hullabaloo because Clinton supposedly used the Lincoln Bedroom as a payoff for contributions or that Gore used his office to get donations from Buddhists monks. But that was then and now the rules are changed for the GOCHP (Grand Old Corrupt Hypocrisy Party.

3. But...but...but...Al Gore called a nun from his office once!
and the Rovians tried to drag him into the town square and hang him.

The hypocrisy of the GOP knows no bounds.

11. Hatch was a Dem he saw corruption the WPA but.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatch_Act_of_1939

The most restrictive measure was brought about by Republicans in the Senate. It dictated that persons below the policymaking level in the executive branch of the federal government must not only refrain from political practices that would be illegal for any citizen but must abstain from "any active part" in political campaigns.

6. There are definently issues with the Hatch Act
Edited on Wed May-10-06 09:08 AM by bluestateguy
Government employees (with the exception of elected officials) are not supposed to be involved with partisan political activities, especially on the job or in government buildings.

9. So where is the corp media on this? Why isn't the Dem Party talking it up?
All it would take is bringing this to people's attention and it would cause a big enough uproar to end this gross misappropriation of tax dollars.

So far the media has been so accepting, so la-de-da.

12. This is why Rove supposedly was involved in policy making

8. And WHY is he involved in the selection of judicial nominees?????
Rove prepares 20 judges

Presidential adviser Karl Rove and White House counsel Harriet Miers yesterday told conservative activists and Senate staff that the administration would soon send the names of more than 20 judicial nominees to Capitol Hill for confirmation.

The undertaking to move ahead came at a 2:30 meeting at the White House that was boycotted by leading conservatives upset at the slow pace of nominations, according to people who attended the meeting.

Conservatives are upset by the Senate’s slow pace on judges since the confirmation of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court in February. They are frustrated that the White House has sent few nominees with strong conservative records.

(snip)

Rove’s participation in the meeting could mean the White House intends to emphasize the judiciary to rev up the conservative base in the run-up to the midterm election. The judiciary, because of its power over social issues, is a leading concern of the base. Rove is likely to spend more time wooing the base since he was shifted from a policy-oriented to a purely political-strategy role last month.

13. Sure...IF Nixon audio tape equipment still in place during R's actions
Edited on Wed May-10-06 10:14 AM by zann725
I suspect there MUST BE some sort of surveillance equipment in Rove's office at WH (which, with the aid of a disgruntled employee's aid)...COULD be impeachably "telling" enough...when added to whatever wire-taps and computer hacks surely also easily attainable with the aid of "right" people.

Can we stop Karl Rove from running the Republican's mid-term campaign from the Whitehouse?
