3. I am happy with the South Carolina results...
Assuming that it ends up at about 44 for Edwards, and 30 for Kerry, this means that Kerry, in the middle of the South, where he spent virtually no time versus Edwards, did extraordinarily well.

Anyone else agree?

16. For a Massachusetts Liberal
Its a strong showing in the south. The key is laways not how you do in your own backyARD, but in someone elses.

Though I am seeing stuff rigt now that looks like a 30, 30, 30 split for Edwards, Kerry, and Clark in Oklahoma right now.

11. Edwards as VP
I'm primarily an Edwards guy but I like Kerry almost as much and I would be perfectly happy if either got the nomination... and I hope that if it comes down to Edwards and Kerry, they will keep it positive so that they can keep the focus on attacking Bush and also so they can form a ticket at the convention.

Best of luck!

9. Absolutely. 30% in South Carolina is amazing.
Considering he was polling like 5% a couple of weeks ago, it shows he can do well in the south. His also about to clean up in Missouri. Another point is that Kerry is doing well in Oklahoma.

As for South Carolina, I would point out that Kerry and Edwards look like they will get a combined 76% of the party.

17. Keep up the good work!
It is so important that no one drops out of this primary season, until the Convention. The more candidates which remain in, the more the debates will be covered, the more the media will cover each primary election in each state and it is working. We are getting our message across to most Americans! The Republican Primary in NH, 15% of them did NOT vote for Bush. The majority of them wrote in one of our Democratic candidates names. This is the good news! Support all of your opponents supporters to vote their choice and keep this process going until the Convention! For the good of America!

The media is calling for candidates to drop out. It is expensive for them to cover all of this. But, this is free advertising for our party! If it is only one person, we won't be getting this coverage and Bush will get more of it.

Tell all of your friends and your opponents to keep everyone in!

34. New York Times: "A Commanding Night for John Kerry"
Senator John Kerry further entrenched his status as the overall front-runner in the Democratic presidential campaign tonight with apparent victories in Arizona, Delaware and Missouri, three of the seven states that held caucuses and primaries today, according to early returns and exit polls.

North Dakota win for John Kerry just announced with 51% of the vote.

Congratulations, John Kerry!

I think he is trailing Clark. A win in NM would be very nice. As for Dean - he has a lot of supporters here but that is not translating into votes out there. He finished behind Sharpton and Lieberman in some places today. How can they spin that?

48. The difference between Kerry and the others doing well
Is that Kerry is doing amazingly well in regions of the country that are not his home base. 40 percent in Arizona, and coming in with half of the vote in North Dakota, Missouri, Delaware.

He is doing exceedingly well in South Carolina, and Oklahoma, which is the home turf of both Edwards and Clark.

And it seems that he is going to come in first in New Mexico.

In the places he came in first, whoever came in second, was pretty much a distant second.

Those who came in first in South Carolina and in Oklahoma, have not come in very close to him in the ohter primaries.

The win with the south strategy is a good one, but winniing with only the south is next to impossible. A candidate must make a string showing in the Midwest, the Southwest, and the Northeast.

To win the south, both Florida and Texas are the real keys.

Right now, most recent Florida polls which are about fifve days old, have Kerry with a significant lead over everyone else (38 percent), with no recent polls for Texas, but Clark seems strong there.

It takes the whole country to win. It looks like a three man race right now, but Kerry is certainly the leading candidate right now.

It looks like the south is going to be a fight between both Clark and Edwards, but Kerry seems to be able to pick up significant percentages of the votes in the polls in he south, but seems to be cleaning up everplace else. With 7 candidates running and Kerry taking more than 50 percent in three of the seven states, around 40 percent in another, and coming in with about a third of the vote in New Mexico, there is no other candidate who is as strong as Kerry in all areas of the country.

Kerry is in the lead right now for next Wednesday, polling 32 percent in Virginia, and 31 percent in Tennessee, well ahead of his closest opponent in those states (Clark, about 10 point behind him in these states)...

Michigan looks like another big win for Kerry on Saturday, with him polling at 37 percent there.

I think Kerry is doing exceeedingly well, and is right now polling fairly far ahead for the super tuesday states. I do not think that the election results in the south are going to have much of an effect on Kerry's momentum.

60. Amazing night
5 out of 7. The pundits were saying that it actually benefits Kerry to have Clark win OK and Edwards win SC because it keeps them in the race and keeps the field split. If Edwards had won SC and OK it would've been a two man race, and anything could happen in a two man race.

We proved we could win all over the country tonight.. amazing. The Kerry train steams on.

66. Kerry wins in Delaware, 4 other states!!!!!
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 06:58 AM by molly
:kick: :kick: :kick: :kick: :kick:

http://www.delawareonline.com/newsjournal/local/2004/02/04kerrywinsindela.html

snip.....

"About 15 percent of the state's 224,925 registered Democrats turned out to vote - three times the percentage in 2000, a nonbinding primary won by former Vice President Al Gore."

snip....

With the victory, Kerry automatically receives five at-large delegates, said Nicole Majeski, the party's executive director. Ten delegates are awarded through a proportional formula based on the candidate's performance in party-defined districts. Kent and Sussex counties and Wilmington each send two delegates and New Castle County sends four.

snip....

"Delaware has earned the reputation as a bellwether in the November election, having picked at least the winner of the popular vote in every election since 1948. Whether that holds true for primaries remains to be seen."
