POLITICAL NOTEBOOK: Dole warns of disaster

By LIZ SIDOTI
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER

WASHINGTON -- The head of the Senate Republican committee paints a dire picture of Democratic congressional control, warning that the opposition party would "put the war on terrorism on the back-burner" and maybe even impeach President Bush.

In a fund-raising appeal this week, Sen. Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C., asks for immediate financial help "to prevent the most left-wing Democrat Party in history from seizing control of the United States Senate" in the November elections.

My question for Mrs. Dole would be: how could we possibly have a worse disaster than the one we've had the past 6 years under W? As Bill Maher succinctly put it: "On your watch, we've lost almost all of our allies, the surplus, four airliners, two trade centers, a piece of the Pentagon and the City of New Orleans." Maher doesn't even mention the debacle in Iraq, the corruption in DC or the erosion of our civil liberties and system of checks and balances.

And excuse me Mrs. Dole, but the WOT IS on the back-burner so that Bush can focus on Iraq. Did we ever catch Osama? No, because as George himself once said about Osama: "So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you. (http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/03/20020313-8.html).

C'mon Elizabeth, the Democrats couldn't mess things up worse than the Republicans if they tried. That may not make a great campaign slogan for us, but it's certainly the truth. If you payed any attention at all to the country you live in, you'd realize that Americans have finally figured out what's going on (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060505/ap_on_el_ge/republicans_ap_poll).

6. It Doesn't Really Have to Convince Anybody to Vote Republican
It only has to convince most people that a lot of other people voted Republican.

Diebold takes care of the rest.

7. I'm afraid you give Repubs too much credit re. their intellect.
The ONLY reason---and I mean, the ONLY reason---the Repubs might not vote this coming November, is because they're pissed off that they have to pay more for gasoline for their cars, or the fleets of cars (depending on their social status) and yachts, speedboats, jet-skis, ecetera.

Repubs, no matter their financial status, care only about ONE THING: the Green.

They could give a good god-d**n about the environment, education, fair wages, healthcare for all, and all those, for them, trivial "wedge-issues".

To them, it's "Guns-Gays-and God", and to them, "the Green" IS God .

Don't let them fool you with their so-called "morals and ethics". They could care less. All they care about are tax-cuts, cheap gasoline (to HELL with the environment and our wildlife refuge, and our trees--cuz they're too stupid to understand we need trees to breathe!), and blaming the Democratic Party that they can't afford healthcare, education, and using their OWN funds for their businesses, as opposed to using taxpayer money through government grants, tax-cuts, and contracts.

I'm sorry, but in this day of the information superhighway, there's just NO EXCUSE for them to continue voting for Republicans when the state of the country under complete Republican rule hasn't done America a spit of good!

4. Considering the mood of the country and today's report that conservatives
are abandoning Bush, is she sure that her audience will view impeachment as a bad thing?

5. "Most left wing Democratic Party in history..."
Oh ho, what a joke.

The party that can't or won't even propose Universal Health Care, jesus, don't get me started.

Exactly! If Dole thinks that Democrats will screw up the country, I think he'd better look at the job Bush has been doing for the past six years.

The charge of being "left-wing" doesn't even stick. That's a buzz-word used by conservatives to instantly discount a person and their policies. 'Liberal' has become a dirty word. It sounds like she's more trying to appease the liberal-bashers than formulating an honest charge against the Democrats.
