Santorum: $137,000 from oil/gas companies for 2006; >$400,000 lifetime
This was a good local TV interview today where the political correspondent went 1:1 with Santorum about "who's side is he on" when it comes to the price of gas. Rick gets nailed on UNDER"estimating" his contributions from big oil and gets snippy and defensive. :spray:

Federal election records show that he has taken more money from oil and gas interests than any Senator except the senator from Texas.

Santorum brushed off any suggestion that donations from oil companies were anything unusual.

“In this race, we probably have the most expensive race in the country, and I probably get more money from just about every industry than any other senator in the country,” he said. “I don't know how much the oil and natural gas industry has given me, 10, 20, 30 thousand dollars, whatever it is.”

Delano reports that number is actually over $400,000 in Santorum’s lifetime and over $100,000 in the current cycle.”

1. now it's starting to add up--how he can afford a very expensive
house in VA AND a lot of private school tuition AND a home in his home district, ETC., on his $170000 Senate salary "alone".

2. Is that it, $137,000 in the current time period and $400,000 in
...his lifetime? Hardly seems worth the trouble. How much does IRS take from those bribes? Surely he'll get kickbacks, free gifts, land, real property, that will grow those numbers into the millions. Or is Sanatorium just another two bit (TB) politician?
