I live in a suburb of Houston and work downtown, my parents live in Mission Viejo, CA about 25 minutes north and south of San Diego and Los Angeles. Today's events are going TOTALLY unreported in the mainstream press.
My parents called me at 9 AM PST (11 AM CST) to notify me of some contention developing in their neighborhood and city. My parents decided to take a drive down I-5 to Los Angeles and got there in record time, 10 minutes. From the roadside, a great many buildings, both houses and commercial properties, around there had put two flags outside: the Mexican flag and the American flag, but the American flags were all at half-mast and upside down, many were noticeably torn at the far left, shearing off 5 stars. This greatly upset every one over there and word is travelling faster than the presses.
Over in Houston, it took me a full 10 minutes (usually 45) to get to work. Apparently it was the first non-holiday to not have a single collision in 10 years, according to what one of my co-workers heard a guy on the radio say. A guy came in around 20 minutes after I arrived and said, "Might as well leave, Houston is a ghost town!" I went to lunch at the local food court and it was amazing how few mexicans were there, instead, you would see all these people in business suits with aprons on serving the food, or you would see a *lot* of Vietnamese.
Thought you should know.
