Vets for Dean: The Real Facts, Please
http://www.vetsfordean.blogspot.com

As a veteran, I appreciate Gov. Dean’s stance on a strong military, used in the right way, to protect us from terrorism. And, for nearly six months, long before any of the other candidates had said a word about support to our veterans, Gov Dean had been addressing critical veterans and military issues, and not just talking about what needs to be done. Talk is still cheap from other candidates who trot out their military records before the election.

Another recent example occurred this weekend. The president admitted he didn’t have the facts about WMDs in Iraq. Not one word was said by the other candidates about what this means from a veteran's perspective. Again, the Dean campaign, alone apparently, believes this issue is very important to talk about.

Read the whole story of how the president is trying to brush away the facts about the Iraq and the weapons of mass destruction at Veterans for Dean.

5. as a military brat and a military wife
I am glad that someone on democratic side is focusing on the important issues. We can argue all day about economy and who can bring in the most votes but for me it is most important how the moron in the White House uses our military.

7. I couldn't agree more.
I'm not sure Dean is the best candidate to trust on that, though; it seems to me he hasn't been put in the position to find out what he would do. After 9/11, he gave a speech in which he advocated literally exterminating all terrorists as the only possible solution. That's not the approach I'm in favor of!

6. Hmm... Support for veterans?
In 1995, Dean supported a GOP plan to reduce the growth of Medicare by $270 billion over seven years — a move that other Democrats denounced as a "cut."

He also supported more managed care for Medicare and requiring some Medicare recipients to pay a greater share of the cost of their medical services.

And, he said, "the way to balance the budget is for Congress to cut Social Security, move the retirement age to 70, cut defense, Medicare and veterans pensions. ... It would be tough, but we could do it."

9. Once again we see a desperate Dean attacker....

taking a decade old quote out of context to present it as if it was a policy statement or current position.

Dean was asked about what would need to be done if a balanced budget amendment passed in 95. His answer included listing things which would need to be cut in that HYPOTHETICAL circumstance.

Yet these folks would try and convince others that Dean's was giving a policy speech or stating his intentions to gut social programs.

They have to dig for 10 years to find something to attack with, and even then they have to cut it out of context and misrepresent it.

8. I'll be linking to you from my blog
Dr. Dean is the only one who consistantly speaks to the needs of not just Vets but also our Guard and Reserve that are getting royally screwed by Dubya.
