New Mexico sent out 30,000 (24,000 returned) total votes about 60,000

Couldn't find OK numbers

Many of these ballots were cast before Kerry/Edwards rose in the polls...when either Clark or Dean were leading

WHAT TO WATCH FOR ON ELECTION DAY

Standard operating procedure for the Republican Mean Machine on election day is to release demoralizing leaks midday to try and suppress the voting for those they are against. Usually this begins with Drudge posting supposed info from a supposed insider, and then Zogby hits the air and starts hinting - not so subtly - that things are drastically going the way they want them to go. They usually turn up the heat later in the day by, usually around 4PM or so, having first Drudge than others flat out say it is a done deal for their guy before the evening voting starts.

but in this case I do. The absentee ballots could be crucial. It could give Clark the necessary number to win Oklahoma and Dean the necessary threshold to gain delegates--15% or more.

That is one freaky pic! I agree with you that the absentee voting should make a difference in final turnout. It should boost Kucinich's numbers in NM also. I believe he has a lot of Greens registering as Democrats to vote in the primary for him. On a side note, I thought NM was a caucus, not a primary?

I was curious myself, so I checked the NM Democratic Party website. According to that site, a primary is run by the state, while a caucus is run by the political party, which I suppose is what NM is doing this time around. Also according to that website, the voting will be just like in a regular primary, except that it starts at noon instead of 7 a.m. or so.
