Many of you in here are anti Lieberman, and you have some validity to that sentiment. He is behind Bushwar to an extent that it's costing him some voters in his own party. No surprise since 90% of Democrats are against the war in the first place. But Lieberman has taken this stance, because he fully believes that the war in Iraq is the right thing.
Many here in DU are against Lieberman simply for that ONE stance, which is my beef with you. Do have a person that you agree with 100% of the time? If so, who is that person? My thinking is that very few of you, almost zero, disagree with your favorite candidate on at least one issue. if you say you do, you're either a robot, or a liar. Lieberman's stance on the war is not enough for me to simply vote for Ned Lamont. I cannot in good conscience, vote for a one issue candidate, and that's exactly what Lamont is. Face facts folks, your hated for Lieberman is blinding you to the fact that Joe is a good Democrat. You condemn a man for one vote. You condemn a whole centrist movement because they don't agree with you 100% of the time. Are all centrist Democrats like the plague, to be avoided at all costs?? To condemn Lieberman for his war vote, and not look at the big picture, just shows how small minded the thinking of some people are. So much for the Democrats being the "big tent" party.

1. As always, I agree with you, Killerbush!

In all seriousness though, there are many reasons to vote against LIEberman and to vote for Ned Lamont.

Not the least of which is that I've donated more money than I can afford to Ned Lamont's campaign, and I'd hate to see it go to waste.

Also, once we dump LIEberman, he'll be able to spend more quality personal time with Ed Schultz.

(I love Ed, but he's got his tongue so far up LIEberman's ass, I can see his tongue moving behind Joe's eyeballs.)

and to my right on many issues. He has only recently turned left towards where I personally am, and I feel proud to have never lost faith that he was more liberal in his heart and that it would catch up to his head eventually.

NO ONE matches anyone 100%. Kerry, Wellstone and Boxer always came closest though historically.

7. Many DUers feel that Lieberman's robust endorsements of George Bush
Edited on Tue Apr-25-06 10:34 AM by Old Crusoe
make him an unlikely figure for leading our party and our platform. Iraq is the centerpiece of that objection.

But at the same time, many on DU credit Lieberman for his commitment early on in his career working in the American South for the civil rights movement. That was an honorable, noble undertaking, and most folks give credit where it's due.

I believe Ned Lamont is well-positioned to ride a blue wave into the U.S. Senate. Many Democrats have had enough of Bush's incompetent, smug governing, and Lieberman may find himself at the wrong cabana when the blue wave rolls in.

8. Joe voting for this war isn't the ONLY reason I dont like him.
You framing the argument to look like the only reason DUers dont like him is because of his war vote is completely ignorant. Its his willingness to stand by this terrorist administration through thick and thin! Lending "bipartisan" support for a terrorist and his cabal. I dont like Joe Liebermann because he is a willing enabler of terrorism, cronyism, and absolute corruption by this administration against the american people. And anyone who doesn't like it can kiss my ass!

12. Your premise would be sound..
... if it weren't for the concept of weighting.

You act as though every issue is of equal importance. Not even remotely the case.

13. I'm small minded - hey np
I DO NOT want corporate and patriarchal Democrats. Back when I was a young-un those folks were called Republicans.

If he would give up his membership and obscenely close ties to AEI, and Bill Bennett, we would be off to a good start. There's the bankruptcy bill, confirmations, holier than thou attitude, censorship of movies and such (it's not Hollywood's fault folks), grow up, no like-no watch. Protecting corporations right to sell my personal info over my right to keep that info private. Then there's the whole video game nonsense, get over it and let me raise my own child, it's your job to makes sure there's world worth living in for him when I'm done with that. Not to mention, his current rhetoric makes me think I'm going to turn on the TV and see him publicly fellating the pretzelnut any day now.

Of course, then there's the war.
