8 year old children see * is a liar
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 01:46 PM by keepthemhonest
My 8 year old step-daughter was over on the weekend. We have talked politics here and there but her dad usually tries to change the subject. Her mother is a repuke so we are very careful what we say in front of her plus she is an impressionable child so I pick and choose words very carefully.Anyway, yesterday we were driving her home and she said "Bush is lying isn't he?". I was shocked and pleased and said "why do you say that?" She said," because he keeps saying he does not want to go to war and now he wants to fight with another country."

I asked where did she hear( whoops spelling) that? A teacher ? her mother? She said she figured it out herself. Wow , I guess maybe other kids probably can see right through all of the hogwash he dishes out too.Now if we can only get the other 33 % of adults to be as smart as her.

3. Adult minds aren't as open to reality as children's. I think adults are
beginning to come around. Since Fox said the approval rating was at 33%, I'm pretty sure that means Bush is well down in the 20% range. More polls coming soon, should be interesting.

Today's kids are the future of the country. They might not like what they see, and they will be in a position to do something about it. What a shame we're leaving them a world that is in such horrible shape.

Adults should be ashamed at what they've done, and spend more time listening to their kids.

4. did you give her any affirmation?

I would have.

I know you didn't want to influence her and get blamed by the mom though.

7. Yes
I pretty much told her I am proud of her for coming up with that on her own.Even if I have to take the heat for encouragement from her mother, but we step mom's have to be careful and step lightly most of the time. That one was worth it.;)

9. They're the only true intellectuals, since they have no agenda.
They really do want knowledge for its own sake, simply to understand the world, not to gain, money or status or acclaim.

6. Psalms 8:2 comes to mind ..
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

8. Funny, in this country, when primary school children were asked
what animal Blair puts them in mind of, they replied, "a snake".

10. Visualizing faster than reading, when I saw
"what animal Blair puts them in mind of" what popped into my mind was the Disney animated Robin Hood, where Prince John's advisor was...

A snake!

11. Don't laugh, but for a moment I feared you were saying
Robin Hood's adviser!!! Of course, that's virtually what he'd posed as when first elected PM. This "mind racing ahead" business!

12. the high-school kids I work with
all think that Bush&Co are phonies and liars. So there is a hope for the future, if they are allowed to have one.
