Bush, Hu, and the Protestor.
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 09:57 AM by Ready4Change
I had a thought the other day.

For a long time, all of Bush's public appearances have been screened. It is clear they are doing everything they can to keep him from coming into contact with protestors. No anti-Bush signs, no anti-Bush t-shirts, etc... The few vocal protestors who get through the nets are pounced on, almost the instant they stand and start sounding off. Then they are hauled out and jailed. (Usually overnight, although they often face criminal charges.)

So, here we have Hu's visit. An anti-Hu protestor gets in. I can see that, as the Bush machine is geared to screen out anti-Bush folk, not anti-Hu folk.

However, when the anti-Hu protestor starts sounding off, a minute goes by and she hasn't been jumped on and hauled out. Two minutes, and she's still there, yelling away. It's 3 whole minutes before she is removed.

American protestors can barely get in scant seconds. Hu's protestor gets minutes.

There are two messages in this:

1) The Bush Administration is waging political war against China.

2) A persons freedom to speak in this country is dependant on whether your speach supports or opposes the Bush Administration.

In other words, your speach is no longer free.

1. Other pundits have opined that bush* let her in to humiliate Hu

At the beginning of the bush* administration, they were already at work f-ing with the Chinese. They were "challenging" their airspace with "surveillance" planes (=spy planes) until they shot one up and forced it down.

she is on the last or next to the last platform and the space looked extremely tight. When they did reach her it looked like others were going to fall off. To me, the delay was because of a log jam and tricky and tight footing. They just couldn't get to her fast. They'll probably rebuild it all to prevent that delay. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I just posted this about what she was protesting:
