Cleveland Plain Dealer endorses unknown candidate over Kucinich
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 03:41 PM by OzarkDem
Un-fricking-believable. They endorsed a shifty, lying woman who has no experience in public office and only recently moved to the Cleveland area to run against Kucinich. This is a woman with zero experience, and zero knowledge of the legislative process.

They want to push Dems to elect a lame candidate in the primary to go up against George Voinovich's staffer in the general election.

They've been pulling the same crap in OH-13, Sherrod Brown's congressional seat.

These assclowns actually think they can steal two Dem Congressional seats by lying their asses off, not covering good candidates and promoting unqualified and corrupt candidates.

On edit: I also suspect this has something to do with Kucinich challenging the WH to reveal whether it has sent US troops to Iran. This is the GOP sending him a very threatening message.

3. Tell them what you think
This newspaper has been out to destroy Dennis K since the first time he ran for office. They don't make a move or print a word without approval from GOP big daddy George Voinovich. Its time to put them out of business...

2. I don't get it. Don't they know the Thugs will let our infrstructure
rot -- and that means less funds and equipment FOR COPS? Maybe there's a problem in that union leadership? I'm sorry to hear that.

6. They know and they don't care
They are the journalistic equivalent of Freepers. They live in the same safe cocoon that other right wingers live in. They keep thinking that the GOP is the only salvation for the state, regardless of how corrupt and incompetent they are.

They have always held Dems to a completely different standard than the Republican party and they truly believe that anyone who is worth helping is already being helped by GOP rule and, conversely, anyone who is harmed or is not doing well under GOP rule doesn't deserve help.

They are oblivious to GOP corruption and apparently feel its part and parcel of doing business. They have no interest in cleaning it up, let alone reporting on it.

4. My first take of your title was it was something about police dept
I wondered what the Cleveland police dept be doing indorsing a political candidate, especially when the Dems might retake the House. It makes more sense if its the PlainDealer. Not that its any less dumb, it does mean the police dept is not quite as dumb as a bag of rocks.

9. They're backing an unknown
in hopes Dems will then have a weak candidate to run against Sen. George Voinovich's aide, who is running as a Repub in the race.

Apparently its an attempt to throw the race to Voinovich's chosen candidate.

They've been pulling similar tricks w/ the Dem primary candidate race for OH-13 Sherrod Brown's seat, trying to promote a weak candidate who they can then bash in the general while helping the Repub candidate win.

and smart. He grew up in some pretty mean streets, so he knows how to take care of himself.

Apparently, he's become very dangerous to them.

Barbara Anne Ferris brings experienced leadership with a clear vision for the future of our area. On the issues, Ferris says nothing about Iraq, or the Bush power grab, or the effects of globalization on Ohio workers. She is a DLC/GOP puke.

to try to take away Dennis support. It will be interesting to follow the money on this campaign, but not surprising.

18. Yes, Republicans will determine the Democratic nominee
which is reason enough to alert all Democrats in the 10th District that the GOP is trying to hijack the primary to put a stealth Republican on the Democratic ballot in November.

14. How come Barbara Anne Ferris is listed as an independent in 2004?
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 03:54 PM by IndianaGreen
Did she just decide to run as a Democrat, like Teresa LaPore in Florida did in 2000?

Here are her donors from 2004:

16. She has no support from local Dems
The first time she ran against Dennis, she alienated a lot of local Dems by going around town and getting support from local Dems leaders (mostly women) by telling them she wanted to run for office and support other Dem women running for office. Then she did an about face and announced she was running against Dennis in the primary and listed all the Dem women leaders as endorsers of her campaign. In short she lied.

Everyone dropped her, and she decided to run as an Independent (she has yet to criticize or consider running against any incumbent Republican).

Since then, she and some of her friends and relatives have made some headway with a group of politically active folks in Cleveland who claim to be Dems, but spend all their time criticizing them. She's also apprently done a good job of courting the GOP controlled Plain Dealer.

She has no resume to speak of, she puts PT Barnum to shame. Dems don't trust her.

20. Plain Dealer also running story about voting machines
and the recent court decision that doesn't allow for punched cards. I guess they're gloating over the fact that we'll get to vote on DRE's with no paper backup.

Plain Dealer has a direct pipeline to the Bush administration - they're a key part of Rove's strategy to fuck up the 2006 elections in Ohio, no doubt. There is no more corrupt or evil newspaper in the US.

to the PLAIN DEALER that Dennis Kucinich is their top choice for the job.

21. If their votes are counted
Cuyahoga Co BOE is very compromised. Its run by the head of the Ohio GOP, its not likely that voting will be fair in this election.

22. Hi to you, OzarkDem. You won't have to persuade me of the skullduggery
of the Ohio GOP. I date back to Jim Rhodes on that count.

But I'm sensing a blue wave for November and even in primary elections, I think the "fighting Dem" in Dennis Kucinich will win the day.

I lived in Cleveland for 14 years (until 94). Kucinich is recognized as an honest man, looking out for the little guy. And as goes Cleveland goes that voting district.
