Primary Voters: Hows The Turnout Where YOU Voted?
as you vote today, please respond to this thread and let us all know how turnout is where you vote. also, any local news coverage that mentions it, post what they are reporting here too.

things will REALLY look great for us (regardless of candidate preference) if turnout is as high as Iowa and NH.

THANK YOU!!

3. I was all by my lonesome.....
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 10:51 AM by GumboYaYa
when I voted at 7:30 this morning. In 2002 I voted at the same time and waited for at least 15 minutes to sign-in. Today I was the only person in the place. I saw a lady leaving as I came in and that was it. If my precinct is any indication, turnout in Missouri may be abysmally low.

4. Just now 9 AM in Arizona; I'm waiting for the Dem office to open
because I don't know where my polling place is and the countly elections website is down (not a tin-hatter, here, but draw your own conclusions).

Seems like renewed interest this year, though. Hope it bears out.

5. St. Louis
I live in a St. Louis suburb, where it snowed heavily last night and schools (where a lot of the polling places are) are canceled. The polling place was practically empty. The roads are fine though, I think, but I would imagine that there will be low turnout in St. Louis today.

8. O'Fallon
The roads aren't that bad. My wife, who is very tentative about driving in bad weather, went out with the kids today. I think it will be more of an emotional barrier/excuse.

11. I agree. There are a lot of undecideds and soft supporters
from what I have seen. The cold/snow gives them a good reason not to vote.

BTW, welcome to DU.

6. Bump. Keep this kicked.
I think weather in the midwest could be a factor in turnout but I am hoping for HIGH numbers.

10. not bad!
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 11:44 AM by ZombyWoof
There is some snow blowing around this morning and the roads are icy, but we turned out with a few dozen others. We had to wait in line to get our ballot, which is a good sign.

12. Snowin' here too...did you take Kade with you?
Hows she doing this morning??

Haven't voted yet-will catch up with the Peace Walkers for DK and we'll all descend upon the polls here in town. :)

Am wearing some DK bumperstickers on my jacket....wonder if they'll let me in. LOL
I know some will have their DK t-shirts on....albeit under a jacket.

Its white here as I look out the back door...hear it was snowy in Flag. Glad you guys got there &back safely.

14. She is doing much better!
Yes, she came along and helped me find this chapel where we voted. :-)

The Doppler is showing lots of snow coming up north. It is light right now, and has barely dusted the ground, so I wonder if the hype was overblown (again). :loveya:

13. Cold in Phoenix and heavy rain is expected;
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 11:43 AM by blondeatlast
that usually brings everyone out as it's so uncommon!

Edit: haven't gone myself yet, I'm waiting to do all my little errands at once since I have the flu. When my prescriptions are ready, I will do my civic duty.

17. Voted about an hour ago (11 AM in AZ) and I was pleasantly
surprised to see, in my very slightly upper working-class district, evey booth filled and a few coming in.

At 11 AM--I came out smiling! It helped, of course, that today, for the first time, I truly voted my conscience.

If it starts to rain heavily, though, I don't know how it will be.

Keep :kick:ing.

18. I was the turnout
This was spot on 8 AM in midtown Kansas City. I was the only voter at the site. Weird, considering that I had to wait a few minutes during the 2000 primary voting.

Weather pretty cold with lots of ice and snow over the weekend (though clear this morning). Chalk up another victory for the lazy-ass American non-voter.

22. That is a shame.
I was listening to a KC station this morning and they said that they expected the weather to be a factor. It can't be that bad, we got more snow here and although it is cold this is important! I hope it picks up.

19. Spartanburg SC
I voted early(7:10) and we were 2 of 3 peolpe voting at that time. It is a very repub precinct and I fully expect to be the sole vote for DK. There is a polling place across the street from my buisness and it appears very slow over there as I type.

20. voted around 11 AM too...big long line *smile*
they said it was the largest turnout they ever had ...so far!

I was #223 and they said it seldom reached 200 plus there was a line behind me & everyone kept filing in...probably to beat the snow.....

:bounce:

Saw my friend, the ex co-chair of the Green party in AZ who switched Dem to vote for Kucinich!!!!

Go Dennis!
Peace & hope

24. South Kansas City/every booth was full
My voting place is usually dead--I'm often the only one voting. Today there was more activity than ever before and every booth was full. The weather is cold, but the streets are fine. No excuse not to get out and vote.
