The corporations would absolutely freak. Wages for local workers would go way up. The Indian software industry would wilt.

The down side is that corporate executive pay might go down.

Those who see a field being dominated by everyone else definitely will find something else to get rich with. It's the American way.

It's called "incentives". Corporations used to know that...

3. Not at all. Our wages will go up too.

The bleeding in our wages (I'm in software) is due to artificially low wages for H-1Bs and the long-term cancer of L-1s. If the H-1Bs were citizens, they would ask for more money. The wage base would rise, and you would not be competing with someone who is forced to take $20,000 less per year than yourself for the same work. Also, the new citizens would not be going home, taking their technology with them.

The L-1s are the same diff. Release them from their indentured servitude to an "Indian" company, and those companys' whole reason for existence disappears.
