South Park, Muhammed, and Jesus dumping on Bush & the flag
Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 03:17 PM by Neil Lisst
The point is: WE CAN HANDLE IT!! We can handle having our president, our number one religious figure, and our flag treated shabbily in cartoon. Why? Because, we are rational, and we know that these are just pictures and words, and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

It's showing the absurdity of our having to tip-toe around one culture's belief, while we can literally shit on American ideals and icons. It proves we are better people because we don't go apeshit and start rioting, we use our words to condemn other words we don't like.

See how rational and civilized that is?

Sometimes South Park is distasteful, but that's life.

1. & wouldn't it be nice
if al queda's revenge was a cartoon broadside instead of a suicide bomb?

good episode - especially the literal 'head in the sand' scenes. it swept the nation, just like in real life.

and presenting the president of Fox as reasonable & brave, as opposed to the suits at CC, was hilarious.

2. I agree. I thought that was a really nice touch - EQUAL TIME.
kind of a cartoon fairness doctrine

I think it is comedy, it is art, and it is important social and political commentary on the cowardice that pervades media.
