The attack upon Conyers is an indicator of Republican strategy...
...in the upcoming election and election in 2008. They have nothing, absolutely nothing, to run on. They have been disastrous for our country in every way imaginable.

Yet, they have a strategy. They will once again resort to the politics of self-destruction. That is what they do well. If the Democrats do not let the pit bulls out of the cage, they may be surprised once again at how they have been mauled by the "Republicons" and their media operatives.

9. I said this yesterday in another thread, and agree with you....
if Delay is found guilty or looks like he's going to be, watch what they do to Maxine Waters. It will be ugly. I think they're saving her for the big ta-dah!

The DNC needs to get out there now -- loud and clear -- and stand behind members of the CBC NOW.

10. I don't think so..
They went after McKinney because she gave them the opportunity, in my opinion. Even though they do not care for her. The reason they went after Conyers, I think, is because he will be in charge of the Judiciary Committee if Dems win in November. He has already stated his intent to investigate and impeach George W Bush. I think that is why they went after Conyers. We need to see more of a pattern to say that they are going after the CBC...If they do, they will find that the CBC is not their "average" Democrats because they will fight back.

14. I don't think it is just black Dems .........
.... although, to be sure, that plays well with their racist base. They're also going to go after people like McDermott.

5. I couldn't agree more. Republicans will rely on Democrats to do NOTHING
and they'll use it in their campaign, as they're already doing now. They'll take advantage of that old adage, "Republicans suck, but Democrats have nothing to offer."

Everyone knows Republicans suck, but no one knows what Democrats stand for anymore. This sitting around and waiting for Repukes to self destruct is fine and dandy, but not if we don't start asserting ourselves. We should be jumping all over them like flies on shit and taking full offensive with no mercy.

7. Agreed. They will work hard to trash Conyers. He may very likely be
chairing the judiciary committee and have subpoena power, able to work the wheels of impeachment.

8. But if they can destroy his credibility in the media....?
with the assistance of CNN and FOX, then his hearings will not be very credible. That is their hope and strategy, I think. They know the American people.

Putting Conyers in the spotlight like that. Conyers is not some loose cannon they can just trash. He has gravitas and a lawyerly demeanor. He's been compiling evidence against these guys for 5 years. Go ahead, put some old complaints by an ex-employee on the air, he'll rebut those and spend the rest of his air time making a highly credible case against Bush/Cheney to the public.

12. It is called politics.
If it had been a Republican we would have been screaming like the Repubs are doing. It will blow over. It is just detracting from the important issues.

13. It's gonna be a level 5 shit storm
The Swift boat Liars stuff from 2 years will look like a tummy-rub in comparison. I am of the opinion that the GOP is Satan come to Earth, and that this year's campaign is a fight for the sould of the country. El Diablo has a vice grip on our national sould, and he's not going to let go easy.
