Michigan governor's race a dead heat (WTF?)
Nearly seven months before you cast your vote, the race for governor is a dead heat. That is according to the latest Epic MRA poll.

All along, many observers believed this would shape up as a competitive race. So, is it a surprise it is so close so soon?

Maybe. Maybe not.

The numbers tell the story of the latest poll. Epic MRA, the long-time polling firm from Lansing, asked 600 people who they would vote for in the governor election in November. Forty three percent say Governor Granholm, while 43 percent say Dick DeVos.

Folks, this guy was head of Amway, where he cut Michigan jobs and instead chose to invest in China. He's not your typical Republican - he's worse. The difference between her and DUH-vos are staggering. Read more at the link in my sig line.

Folks, if you have a few bucks to spare, I strongly suggest you send them Granholm's way.

5. He's been advertising already

He's spent about $3 million already.

Basically, his mantra is "I'm not Jennifer Granholm, who is responsible for this mess."

2. i don't believe the poll
Im here in Kalamazoo and many people dont even know dick devos is running yet or who he is.....i'd have to see more specific numbers on the poll, I believe that alot of michigan rich conservatives are mad at granholm, but i dont believe granholm will lose in november. I wonder what the answers would be if you asked "name the candidates for michigan governor".

I agree Dick Devos is the perfect representation of the corporate control of politics, he is 10000 times worse than John Engler

3. EPIC-MRA is a very Republican-leaning polling group...
The race is probably close, but remember that when reading their poll numbers.

4. Thanx for the heads up
Still have my Granholm signs from last go around. Will look for her site to donate.

She inherited a horrid budget, and has done very well keeping most of our heads above water.

20. SharonAnn is correct
The Granholm people probably don't care where your husband works, but the info is required under campaign finance law.

7. Granholm is a better choice.
DeVos is unquestionably the worst choice for MI. Corporate corruption, anyone remember AmWay? This guy will line his pockets with his cronies sympathy and political contributions in order to make sure that everyday joe's get screwed. What ever happened to the fact that the middle class is the backbone of our country? My back is broken, i'm paying more than ever in taxes, and so will you, unless you're part of the upper 1% of the fiscal community.

Granholm assumed a horrific debt, thanks to John Engler and years of corruption. Anyone remember what we had before him? Jim Blanchard and a SURPLUS, something that never happens under republican administrations. Sound familiar? :nuke:

8. I called the Granholm site to donate
http://www.granholmforgov.com/site/PageServer?pagename=homepage2

And Again they asked where the card holder worked. I refused to give them that info. "None of their Bizness. I just want to support Jennifer". They will process the donation without whole info, but didn't know what will happen. Thanked me repeatedly, and said they understood my reluctance.

It's a Free Country, God Dammit!

15. Here's the deal
Political entities are required to report such information with their financial filings. It's not exclusive to Granholm's campaign.

11. I'm pretty sure you can buy any office you want now
Success, honesty, hard work mean nothing now. Between the GOP media machine and their own personal fortunes, the most vile people on earth can win any office in the land just by flooding their constituency with money.

13. People Don't Know Who DeVos Is, So These Lies Are Working--For Now
This DeVos has been running slick, deceptive TV ads (God, is that all Republicans know how to do?), about the high unemployment rate here, the loss of union jobs and outsourcing, etc.--all very painful issues here as we suffer with near-Depression level unemployment and the loss of good jobs--and then the bastard ties it to Granholm and State policies, not Bush/Cheney and the National unemployment numbers. Further, the slick TV ads seem to be deliberately plotted on the very successful Democratic ads of a few years ago, showing empty, idle factories, etc.; no doubt a typical attempt to confuse messages and sources in people's minds. The Michigan Democratic Party had better get on it pretty soon, and introduce people to what this DeVos really is--with explanations, NOT "framing"! Granholm remains very popular, but a false image of this threatening capitalist DeVos, who will really hurt us (as much as the hated Engler), has to be knocked down quick, before it replaces everything else.

14. But it won't be
With hate radio campaigning for Amway 24/7, there's little hope for Granholm to match the propaganda onslaught. Even if she could somehow match his paid lies, the free lies he gets on AM radio will overrun her.

We've had some bad ones here in LA, but nothing like DeVos. This is truly disturbing, if true.

But I don't think that Michigan voters know much about him yet, other than that he is "not Granholm."

24. That's actually good news in a way
Polls like these are actually pretty meaningless this far away from Election Day...but polls like these help mobilize people that think Granholm is a shoo-in...

There's a Governor's race in Wisconsin between Doyle (not great, but...) and some religious nutjob named Green...and a poll came out yesterday saying it was a dead heat. You can bet more than a few people called Doyle's office to find out how to help. I know I did.
